There's a product called Goo-Gone that I think is available at most grocery or hardware stores. I've used it to get silly putty out of carpeting and a coat pocket. It also works great on oily food stains too.
Carbona Stain Devils (little yellow bottles) has a formula for every stain imaginable. They are lined up like little soldiers on the shelf in my laundry room. Their formula for gum works very well. My favorite one is the one for grease. It gets out every tiny popcorn 'butter' spec of a stain the first time, every time! Good luck! J.
Shaklee's Basic H ( non diluted) straight takes gum off of clothing and hair. silly putty might be the same.
If you need a sample of H, let me know, I can send you a little sample so you can remove it.
baby oil works perfectly........just got out of hair & clothes
We use vinegar to wipe off homemade silly putty when children at our school get it on their clothes or on our rugs.
Try freezing it, and then cracking it off... Good luck!
take an ice cube to it and then get it cold and then it should peal out just fine hope it works good luck
Hi L. ,
Silly putty might work like gum - try putting it in the freezer and you should be able to scrap it off without bonding with the material . Hope this helps

I've been teaching preschool for years...this happens all the time.
Just stick the pants in the freezer. When the putty freezes up, it will come right out.
It should be no problem.
We just had a similar experience when my daughter fell asleep in the car with gum in her mouth...it got all over the seat belt and her dress! What I did was pour some vinegar into a small bowl, then microwaved it for 45 sec/1 minute. Then I dabbed a toothbrush into the hot vinegar and scrubbed the gum. It came right out...was actually pretty easy clean-up!!! Works best when the vinegar is really hot, so you might have to re-heat it a time or two. Good luck!
What about cutting out the pocket and sewing it shut? At least there would be no danger of spreading the silly putty.
Just yesterday my daughter got silly putty on the fabric of my rocking chair. I soaked a paper towel with rubbing alcohol and it came out in a matter of seconds!!! The alcohol breaks down the sticky substance in the putty instantly.
Hope that helps.
I've never tried it, but I wonder if peanut butter would work...it works for gum and they have the same consistency.
Good Luck.

Hi L.:
Silly putty is a lot like gum. I have used Skin So Soft by Avon to remove loads of gum-llike matter from clothing. Pour it on that spot, rub it in, rewash the item, and it's gone. Have you tried rubbing ice there? It will freeze the material for easy removal. Well that's what worked for me. Good Luck. Patricia Campbell-Bell
Try Goo Gone...you can buy it at Target, etc. We sent a
whole pack of gum thru the dryer (huge mess) and everything
came right out. It is also great at getting rid of sticker
adhesives, etc.
ICE CUBES...
Try ice.... Try to freeze it.. and then break it out....
What is left try peanut butter... that always works.....
then wash try a double wash to get that out and all done....
