Hello!
I just had my second boy 5 months ago and am wanting to sell or get rid of my maternity clothes and the baby clothes that I have and are no longer going to be used. Have any of you been able to sell your clothes or get rid of them and if so, what's the best way to do so? The maternity clothes I have are a mixture of jeans, capris, business outfits, shirts, skirts, shorts, etc... Please let me know your best selling tips.

Thank you!!!

I suggest E-bay as well. I can't tell you how much I personally bought off of E-bay. Along those lines, I've noticed that items listed at a lower starting price end up going for a higher price in the end.

Donate to a local charity thrift store and get a tax deduction for them! This way you help yourself (tax break) and others (who can buy nice stuff at lower prices due to limited income). Also you could see if there is a teen mom program in your community and donate to them.

I don't like the hassle of garage sales, carting things to and from consignment sales, etc. People want something for nothing and it is frustrating.

I get more gratification by donating all of our things to the local women's shelter, etc so that women and children can get things that are much needed because they are in a position where they have nothing. It is deeply appreciated by the women.

On top of that......you get a tax deduction that benefits you more than selling a $60 pair of pants for $5.

Good luck.

I donated all of my maternity clothes to the local battered womens shelter and United Cancer Research Society.

There are some great suggestions on kids clothes as well. My friend and I have kids about a year apart. We are passing our clothes around to the next in line. This has been great to not have to buy everything. I of course have bought some. My best friend has gotten clothes from friends in her neighborhood and I try to buy some for her kids to since mine have benefited the most. Its a great way to reuse and share. Once our other friend is done (they might have 1 more) then the ones still in good shape will be passed on or donated. I've also donated toys that the kids no longer use.

Check out www.jbfsales.com. For Just Between Friends Kids and Maternity Consignment. You price them, tag them, drop them off and they sell them. You also get an opportunity to shop early if you consign. With two little ones you maybe able to save tons on things for them.

I made good money ($100+) dollars on Ebay with my maternity and kids clothes. You can also check local consignment shops

I haven't gotten rid of any of my maternity clothes yet in hopes of another child.

But, all the other baby items, clothes, etc. we no longer plan to use are getting donated. I know several people who have garage sales or sell them to consignment shops. I personally would rather have the satisfaction of helping someone else (and like others said, the tax deduction is nice).

Another option is to give them to someone else you know who's pregnant and ask them to pass them along when they're done and continue the chain of giving as long as the clothes are in good shape.

If you haven't already given them away, what about donating to a crisis pregnancy center? A lot of centers have a library check-out type system for women who can't afford clothes. The moms check out a few items and then return them when done. I know the center I worked with always needed more clothes for the mommas.

Look up Just Between Friends. They have consignment sales twice a year all over in many states. You keep 65% and you set your own price. They only accept maternity and childrens/baby clothes.

Ebay them or put them on Craig's list. I would price the whole lot of maternity clothes for O. price. They're probably all the same size. If you'd like you can separate into two lots: O. work appropriate andthe other casual.
As for kids clothes, they go like HOTCAKES on ebay, especially the smaller sizes, which usually have NO wear on them.
Do you have Snugglebugs consignment events in your area? If so, you might want to look into that as well.

I have found I get the most for my items at consignment sales. You can price your own items and keep 70% (That's more than consignment shops!) Check out: http://www.consignmentsalequeen.com/p/getting-started.html for tips on how to maximize your profits while minimizing your work.

I've seen maternity clothes and baby stuff on Craigslist. Just group the clothes and stuff into several lots and set a price per box (or bag). You can also check out zwaggle.com and "trade" your stuff for new (used) stuff. I have had success with both...

In our area we have a consignment sale twice a year and I love it. I consign the clothes the children wore the year before and then buy all their clothes for the next season. It is an extra step but I love buying a shirt for a dollar, letting my child wear it for 6 months, wash it and sell it for a dollar. You can find brand new things with tags still on also. My little boy is usually decked out in Old Navy, Gap, or Tommy Hilfiger. They also sell maternity clothes. Of course if you don't have the time and/or don't need the money then I love the idea of giving it to the Crisis Pregnancy Center.

Look for a consignment shop in you're area, if you're not sure what kind of things they take, give them a call. And you get paid a % when the clothes sell. That's what I did with my daughters baby things that I didn't need anymore and it helped give me some extra cash.

To sell:
*craigslist (free)...put professional clothes together and then casual clothes together and sell the bag for whatever price you think you can get for them. Professional $75 a bag, casual $50 a bag...depending on what you have of course. Include pictures of the items laid out on the bed. Baby clothes bagged by size and season....and priced for the LOT. You will want to advertise the word LOT on your selling title. Realize though, that you will get a lot of interest and only about 1/3 of the people will actually show up on time. Ask for cash or paypal payments ONLY.
*Around here they have baby/kid sales at local churches, hospitals, and schools regularly. People rent out tables for around $5 and sell their items on the one Saturday during the event and make much better money than selling at a yard sale. People who attend know it is a little more but grateful they don't have to drive all over town to find decent sales here and there.
*Ebay...similar to craigslist...but will have to possibly ship the items

To donate:
*obvious thrift stores, etc....
*Call the alternative high school in the area or social services and see what programs they have. There are tons of people who take education courses in exchange for baby gear, baby clothes, and maternity clothes. What a great way to help someone who is helping herself!
*Place an ad at work or poke around to see if there is someone who knows anyone who could use your items....In this economy, I'm sure there is.
*Place an ad on craigslist for the items as FREE CURB ALERT with a description of the items in the ad (There is a free column). Put the items in bags at the end of your drive and they will be gone in an hour! Just remember to delete your ad asap and DON'T put your telephone number on there.

Don't sell them to second hand children's clothing stores....they pay you peanuts for them and usually it isn't worth the drive to the store and the wait while they dig through them all and only buy a handful for nothing.

Hope this helps!
