I just got this sent to me today from another group I am in. Maybe you will find something useful there that will work.
Easy Recipes for General Cleaning and Getting Rid of Pests
© Leslie Sausage
1. All-Purpose Cleaner #1
1 qt hot water
2 T washing soda
Mix well; wash surface; rinse.
2. All-Purpose Cleaner #2
Soapy ammonia is a versatile cleaning agent. You can use it in place of a commercial all-purpose cleaner for everyday kitchen and bathroom cleaning. Dilute according to the instructions on the container.
3. Glass Cleaner #1
To a 1-quart spray bottle, add:
1-2 T sudsy ammonia
1/2 C rubbing alcohol
Fill with water to make 1-quart of class cleaner.
4. Glass Cleaner #2
To a 1-quart spray bottle, add:
2 Tb white vinegar
Tiny squirt (1/16 tsp) liquid dish detergent
Fill with water to make 1-quart of class cleaner.
Apply with cloth or mist/spray bottle; dry with lint-free cloth or paper towels.
Window-cleaning tip: Wash windows on a cloudy day or when the windows are in shade because direct sunlight can cause streaking.
Optional: Add a drop or two of blue food color and/or use a permanent marker to write the recipe directly on the bottle; for safety (to know what's in the bottle) and also so you have the recipe handy when it's time for a refill
5. Laundry Pre-Soak for Stains
1/2 C Wisk (liquid laundry detergent)
1/2 C ammonia (sudsy or scented)
1/2 C white vinegar
1/2 C water
Great for getting out food stains! I've used other laundry detergents, just make sure NOT to use any that have bleach in them.
6. Removing Blood from Fabric
Pour hydrogen peroxide onto fabric immediately, let bubble up, then rinse with cold water; wash as usual.
Reminder: NEVER mix bleach and ammonia!
7. Sealed-Wood Cleaner and Floor Polish
2 tsp light olive oil
1 C distilled white vinegar
Pour the oil and vinegar into a 1-quart spray bottle. Blend well. Spray the cleaner onto wood, wipe over with a damp cloth, and finish drying with a clean, lint-free cloth.
8. Silver Cleaner
1 piece aluminum foil (big enough to cover the bottom of the cleaning container)
1 to 2 Tb baking soda
2 qt very hot water
Lay the aluminum foil along the bottom of a plastic or glass container. Place the tarnished silver on top. Sprinkle the silver with baking soda, and cover it with very hot water.
Soak until bubbles stop, then rinse and polish the silver with a soft cloth.
How this works: silver sulfide (tarnish) breaks down and transfers to the aluminum foil, which you can then throw out. The result: shiny silver.
Since this technique removes tarnish uniformly, you shouldn't use it with antique or intricately patterned silver.
9. Toilet Bowl Cleaner
1/2 C borax
Scrub bowl with borax and a brush.
10. Clogged Drain
For clogged drains, plug overflow drain with wet cloth; pour 1/4 cup baking soda into drain followed by 1/2 cup vinegar; close drain tightly until fizzing action stops; flush with boiling water. Remove cloth from overflow drain.
11. Ants
Wash the area of the ant's trail to prevent others from following; sprinkle boric acid (obtained in hardware stores) along the line of entry.
12. Fleas
To prevent flea infestations, feed pet tablet of brewers yeast and garlic. Bathe dogs regularly during flea season and use a flea comb on your cat or dog. Vacuum furniture and carpet thoroughly and frequently (store vacuum outside of home - in shed or garage, for instance - during problem periods); clean your pet's favorite sleeping spots regularly and sprinkle with fennel or rosemary.
13. Moths
To prevent moths from feasting on your clothing and woolens, keep them clean and store in a cedar chest. Or place sachets made of cedar chips or lavender in your closets.
14. Roaches
Set out a dish containing equal parts sugar and baking soda (the sugar attracts and the baking soda eliminates).
With all these recipes, use appropriate safety precautions!
Good luck!
