Nothing scary now that I'm a mom but maybe just something different.

Actually I appreciate every day more. And when I forget.......which I do......I remind myself how lucky I am and my lovely child.

Thanks mamas. I got some great ideas! I do love my birthday! I know I was just feeling blah with this weather and am going through a lot family-wise that I wanted something just for fun to take my mind off of things.

Paint it yourself studio - you have to attempt to paint a famous painting yourself. They provide the blank canvas and all the paint you need.
Check online if your favorite places to eat offer free meals/items for people on their bdays. I saw on TV these twin sisters went around town for their free meals and desserts. I think they even got free jewelry somewhere!
Depends on who you want to celebrate with, but an idea for just girlfriends is to have a party at Dash of Panache downtown. They do birthday parties and tea parties and have a dress up closet where you and your friends can choose feather boas, jewelry, etc and be silly. Our daughter had her birthday there last year and I always thought the grown-up version would be fun, too. If their website is the same as last year, you can view pics of the types of parties online.
Get SCUBA certified and go diving with friends! That is how my husband and I are spending my next birthday (well, we are getting re-certified). :)
