D..
Sorry you're feeling blue. Time to get together with friends in person rather than looking for them to write you!!
:)
Just curious, how often do you check your email?
I've been obsessive about it lately -a sure sign I'm feeling blue.

I'm never without it...except when I'm getting a massage or in a meeting with a client. I'm in sales and have a home office based out of the east coast. I sleep with my iPad, cell phone and office phone. I have to take care of my clients and company. E-mails = $$ and I'm in global healthcare sales. I don't sleep much. It's my choice but works out just fine.
All the time including at night when I wake up.
HOWEVER, we run our company from home and most of my emails are business related. I check often because there might be a PO, question about a formula, traffic issue, you name it. We have to stay on top of everything because manufacturer's run 24/7 therefore, we have to be ready for a call 24/7 if someone runs low on material or something.
Used to check it a few times a day. Now that I have an iphone I check it more because I get notifications. But I have a pretty good spam filter and don't get too much junk, so really it's mostly stuff I actually want to see.
I have a work email I am on for 8 hours a day Monday - Friday.
But my personal email (I am horrible) I only check it if I've ordered something online or if someone tells me, "Hey I emailed you something"
Everyone who knows me knows to tell me when they email me otherwise I could go months with out checking.
Every 30 min probably, I wish it were less.
I check my email three or four times a day-at least. I only check my voice mail about twice a week!
If you believe you're being obsessive, you probably know what to do about it.
That said, I check my e-mail several times a day. Usually I'm waiting for something or other to show up. I have a dumbphone, not a smartphone, and a desk PC, so I just sit down every couple of hours and check things. I don't think I'm obsessive, but I do try to make sure I won't become so - by not checking at specific times of day, for instance.
I check mine probably the same amount as a typical person.
Which is several times a day.
But I have various types of email addresses, not all on the same e-mail brand if you know what I mean.
So sorry you are feeling blue.... hope you know why? Or maybe it can be PMS or something.
Or just boredom... or who knows.
Maybe do something for yourself... something "selfish" even, since that is something Moms rarely do. Meaning, maybe just leave and go somewhere by yourself and leave hubby home with the kids. I like going to bookstores by myself and just laze around the place, eat at its cafe, read etc.
Pops up on my phone every time they are received so I never check, my phone tells me when I have new emails.
Once a day is enough for me.
No more than twice a day !!
When I'm at home my laptop gets turned on when I get up in the morning and gets shut down before I go to bed. I have Outlook open all day and it checks for mail at a regular interval.
However, that does not mean I am on my computer all day. It does not mean I am checking email/FB/whatever all day. It is better for the power supply to just leave it on than to turn it on and off all day. I use my computer for a whole heck of a lot. I use it with my kids for research projects or to answer their questions or to do banking or a while host of other things. I go on whenever I have a free minute and feel like it. That could be more some days and less others. Who knows. I don't set aside say an hour to myself to do things on the computer. It's more like I get my hour but it's spread out all day, in between taking care of all my responsibilities.
When I am away from the house, I have my phone set to check emails but only when I open my email app. It doesn't check on a regular basis and doesn't send me notifications. When I am out I check it if I am expecting something from someone or there might be a notification from somewhere that I need. I don't check my email a whole lot when I'm out just running errands, it can wait until I get home. I do check it on my phone if it's a longer trip where I don't have access to my laptop most of the time.
Morning, noon, night.
More if I'm home.
Never when I'm away from home.
It depends on what I have going on and if I am expecting messages regarding certain pending matters. I have a Gmail account established for only close family and my kids' school to use, so I check that one several times a day.
My Yahoo account, however, I only check when I have placed an online ad for something, or I would like to check for coupons for the various retailers I have given my address to. That can be once or twice a week, several times a day, or a few weeks.
My personal go-to when I'm stressed is Facebook. I can vent to friends, family and acquaintances, view photos, funny anecdotes, etc of family and friends, and argue with complete strangers about trivial things like the way in which my favorite book is being adapted into a television series.
Like J., I just read (or delete) them as my phone tells me they come.
I check our home email once every morning. My work email is up all day long.
i'm a dinosaur in that i actually use a desktop. i have an internet-accessible kindle and a smartphone, but i do 99% of my internet time (which is too much) from my desk.
i almost never check mail on my phone, but i tend to take a peek each time i walk past my desk, which is of course a lot. so i probably check my email a couple of dozen times per day.

I'm an email junkie so I check it all the time (throughout the day). Though I just went on vacation last weekend to Yosemite and we did not have cell service for the majority of the time and I totally survived. It was kind of nice and I didn't even miss it.
Check it? Every time my phone dings.
Read it? Every other day or so. If it is from family I probably read it by the end of the day. More and more if it isn't from a real person I delete it right away.
