How much would you charge per child, per day to babysit over holiday break for school-aged kids whose parents make good money and would leave the child 9 or 10 hours. Meals would be included, parents would drop off and pick up, and no diapers of course. I would be doing it more to help some working moms, but I want to charge enough to discourage except when help is really needed. I have made it clear I don't do summers. I am not close to them and we dont ever do playdates.

What can I do next?

I do home childcare in MN...licensed, degree'ed in Child Dev and all of that. I charge $35 a day no matter what the age. I provide all meal components and activity items (crafts, etc). School age kids are more work to me than infants and toddlers. They say "I'm bored" all day long, as they are used to someone telling them what to do all day (now its time for Math, now its time for Art, etc).

Just my 2 cents.

My daughter's daycare charges $23/day (she's 4yrs old), and that included breakfast, lunch, and 2 snacks (AM & PM), and the hours were 6:30am-6pm, and $1 per minute after 6pm.

I pay $80/week for my 8 year at his daycare after school. If they have a school holiday, it is an additional $10/day, and roughly works out to about $26/day. Includes snacks but he brings his own lunch.

here in oklahoma if you have over a certain number of children in your home that you are watching you must be liscenced i think its5? not exactly sure, ive had my son in in-home day care, i paid $120 a week and provided diapers and wipes she proveded all food. Had another in home care taker that charged $80 a week she provided food i provided diapers and wipes, had another in home we provided everything and she charged 100 a week (all prices were wether he was there or not) the one hes in now is $140 a week, doesnt matter if hes there 2 hours a day or 9 hours, no longer uses diapers but they still make us provide wipes. i think tulsa's rate is about the same, little higher probably.

We live in NY, so keep that in mind..
Our daycare provider charges $45 per day per child or $210 per week (you have to tell her up front that you need the week) for school-aged children who need "vacation" care. She also does a 10% discount for multi-children families. She's licensed and absolutely up-to-date on her trainings.

If you are not licensed and this isn't for full-time income I would think that $25 per child per day is fair.

You would charge either, hourly/weekly or monthly. A flat rate... or if hourly... then hourly.
AND charge for if the parent is 'late' in picking up the child.
You are doing a long stint... for 9-10 hours. AND you are including meals....

have it in writing... and have the parents sign it. ALWAYS.
So your rules and payment rules cannot be disputed.. and so you have documentation on it.

The last in-home child care provider we used charged $140/week for our toddler. Thought that was pretty affordable. He was there for 8/hrs a day and so I guess the hourly rate would've been $3.50. We provided wipes, diapers, etc. and she fed them breakfast, lunch and snack. The pre-school he went to after that charged $210/week ( or about $5.25/hr).

It depends on the age. For my 4y I pay $40 a day, 2 meals, 2 snacks. For my 9y, same place I pay $25. They are there for 9 hours a day.

I think it depends on how close you are to these people, how many of their children you are watching and how many (total kids) you are watching. If it were 1 kid for a few days, I'd probably charge anywhere from $20-$30. If I were watching five kids, maybe I'd charge less because I'm watching more and they can play together. I'd ask the parents what they wanted to pay you too - they may offer more than you'd ask for!

I pay $150 a week for my 3 year old right now. He gets breakfast there, snacks, and all drinks. We provide lunch 3 days a week, she does it two. I drop him off about 715 and pick him up either at 430 or 515, depending on what time I can get out of my office and having to get my other two from my M.. I hate leaving him there that long, but with me doing the drop off and pick up, it's what I can do. So it's $30/day for him. My other two are only $15 a day during the school year (so days off, holiday breaks, etc.) Over the summer I expect to pay $300 a week for all three of them (OUCH!) I don't know if that helps or not.
