my daughter has constipation problems also. I put 1-2 ounces of prune juice in her bottles. Or I mix 2 ounces of prune juice with 2 ounces of water.

My daughter has constipation problems to the point the dr. has her on Miralax.

Hope this helps.

Hi K.,
The prune juice definitely works the BEST for constipation.
My son had it for quite a while on certain formulas and he wouldn't drink prune juice alone so if I prepared an 8 oz bottle, I would do 2 oz of prune juice and 6 oz of formula.
It sounds gross but he drank it just fine that way and it worked great for constipation.

If your baby's nursing, then try 2 oz of water and 2 oz of juice.
Take Care and congrats on your baby girl!

I do half and half. I also had to go to adult prune juice it works better. You can find the all natural kind in 4 oz cans (in a yellow can) at the grocery store so you wont waist any.

Apple juice is also great for relieving constipation. If 2 oz total does not seem to help, try giving her a total of 4 oz, mixed 1/2 and 1/2. If she is not getting any relief from 4 oz, then it's time to call the pedi again! Her constipation might be being caused by something else, instead of just the bananas. As your daughter gets older, continue to mix her juices 1/2 and 1/2 with the water, and be sure to get her 100% juice when you do buy it (no added sugar....We LOVE Juicy Juice the best!)

I have always given my daughter half juice, half water that way it's not too much sugar. She has to have a cup of prune juice once a day or she gets really constipated. There is also some plum juice out now that is really good. It's called Plum Smart, and is usually right by where they sell prune juice. It's a little sweeter tasting than prune juice but has the same effects. The prunes baby food mixed in her cereal is good too and so is a little dark Karo syrup in her milk. Seems like alot of sweets I know, but right now it's the only thing that works, so we just try to limit the amount we give her. She loves veggies, so that makes me feel a little better about it. Good luck!

our pedi said 1 oz of water to 1 oz of prune juice twice a day. It works! You don't want to give them any more juice than you have to.

Hi K.,
You could also try giving her some apple/prune jar food.
If she's eating cereal you could mix a little bit in her cereal.

I used to mix a 1/2 jar of the apple/prune baby food with the Gerber Mixed cereal. It did wonders for my son! :)

alright, well, contrary to everyone else my sons Ped. told us for his constipation to give him stright prune juice, adult prune juice and do not dilute it, and DO NOT put it is milk or formula. and also stay away from apple, because apple tends to constipate. also he told us to give him apricots. Still to this day 2 years later my little man still loves his prune juice.

I have been giving different juices to my 15 month old daughter but definitely dilute it. I use half juice and half water. At least that is what my pediatrician recommended because if you give your child straight juice, it could ruin your daughter's teeth. Half juice, half water. That's what i do in the juice category.
