My 7 month old son does not have much of an appetite. He was breast fed until just a few weeks ago and at around 5 months or so just didnt really eat that much. He started only eating a few mins on each breast and I thought that he was just distracted or something. But he still doesnt like to eat that much. I always make him 6 ounces of formula in his bottle but normally he only eats 5. But to get that 5 ounces down him I have to distract him, but putting the TV on or having his brother sing to him etc. He will eat 2-3 ounces with no problem, but after that its a struggle. I give him 5 bottles a day, so if I am lucky I can get him to drink about 25 ounces a day...if I am lucky. He also has about half a jar of baby food for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a little cereal. It just doesnt seem like much compared to what my older son was eating at his age. My older son would cry for more milk and was eating 2 whole jars at one sitting. I know every baby is different but it just worries me.
Should I be distracting him to eat more? If I didnt he would only eat 3-4 ounces per feeding.
His weight is fine but he has a skinny tummy to me. Just curious how everyone else's kids eat.
My little guy only drinks 6-8 ounces 3 or 4 times a day and has no intrest in baby food at all. He is right on track developmentally. Every baby is different. My first son ate like food was going out of style. 10-15oz a sitting every 3 hours without fail and 2 jars of food at each meal. He is now 2.5 37lbs lean and tall.

It's worth getting checked at the Dr. to rule out things like a partial obstruction or twisted intestine.... BUT
I had a *BIG* eater. 20oz on average per feeding from 2 weeks to 1year. But he'd go through periods (just starting to teethe, sick, or just finishing a growth spurt) where he'd only take a few ounces at a time for several days to a couple weeks. Rather wild variations in quantity are pretty normal for both babies and children. I was told to just keep monitoring how many wet diapers he had.

My 8mo eats about 4oz of baby cereal with fruit mixed in for breakfast, 2 jars of stage2 baby food for lunch, and 2 jars stage2 baby food for dinner. In addition, she has 7oz formula in the morning, three 4oz bottles during the day, and a 6oz bottle at bedtime. This is similar to what she ate at 7mo. She's >97% for her height and 75% weight, so she's a little taller and slimmer.

I think as long as he's developmentally on target and the doctors were not concerned at his 6 month check up, he is doing fine. Some kids just do not eat as much as others. That being said, my son will be seven months next week and a typical day for him is like this:
Breastfed 1-2x before daycare: Usually total milk = 6oz
Breakfast: 1 jar babyfood with baby cereal
Breastmilk and/or formula: 4x at daycare - anywhere from 2-5 oz
Lunch: 1 jar baby food
Dinner: 1.5-2 jars babyfood then I try to feed him or give him a six ounce bottle before bed.
He, too, will usually eat five ounces but if we keep him engaged, he'll drink six. My mom was asking why he wasn't drinking eight ounces by this age and I reminded her that breastfed babies drink/eat more often than formula fed babies.
I think it sounds like he's on track with what he should be eating!

I had one that ate alot for his age at that age. My second ate a whole lot Like 5x more than his older brother. I think if his weight is fine let him eat what he wants and when he had a growth spurt he will floor you. He probably will just be smaller than his brother. sounds to me without seeing him that he is fine.
