I am in the Clinton Township area and pay about $10 an hour for my two children, ages 2 1/2 and almost 1. Good luck!
I have one daughter...13 months. My mom has been her main babysitter since she was born, but we've had some times where she couldn't watch her, and we're ready to take on a teen babysitter. It would only be an occasional evening or weekend afternoon. Probably a high-schooler, not sure whether it will be someone who can drive or not (i realize that a driver should be paid more) We live in Clinton Township. Our daughter is walking, still in diapers (obviously), very good natured, goes to sleep on her own, is a good eater, doesn't cry when we go, etc.
Just wondering, how much should we plan to pay for this type of babysitter (hourly)? Want to be fair, but don't have a lot of extra money!

Hi L., we pay our babysitter $5.00 an hour. (I always give her a tip on top of that too). We have a 3 & 4 year old. When we first met her, I spoke to her and to her mom about having her babysit. I suggested a wage of $7.00 and hour. Her mom absolutely said no to anything more than $5.00. She was 13 at the time we started using her. We were her first and still the only family she babysits for. She is the very best babysitter! My husband, my kids and me just LOVE her. She has been babysitting for us for almost 2 years now. She is the best kept secret in my neighborhood!! :)
Good luck!

I think $6/hour is fair for one child.
We pay 8$ an hour if it is just one child and $10 an hour when it is both. I round up to the nearest hour when it is a weekend. Our babysitters all drive and are either highschool seniors or now in college.
