$10/hour with a 4 hour minimum is pretty standard, especially if they have to drive more than a few miles to and from your home.
I want to know what the going rate for babysitters is right now. My parents, inlaws, and sister live close so I've never actually paid for babysitting. I've finally decided that I do need to use someone for a couple of hours a week. I plan on using a girl that I know who is 19 and in college. I asked my mom what she thought I should pay and she told me $2.50 an hour :)) Obviously we have no clue around here what people pay babysitters!
I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old. I would mainly use a sitter for a couple of hours during the day or if my husband and I want to go out on a date and our family is busy.
Thanks so much!

We have a 13 yr old.
Last week my daughter babysat for almost 4 hours and got $40 cash. She was sitting for 1 (8 yr old) and 2 (3 yr old) twins.
As for what we pay....we guarantee $40 for her time. My current sitter is a Jr in High school. IF we are gone much longer than 4 hrs, I start adding $10 per hour. My typical payment for weekends are $60 (CASH).
Hope that helps.

We use a 16 year old and she charges $7/hr for three kids. I've used college age and they are usually $10 or more per hour.
Hi D.,
We have 2 kids that are 4 ned 5 and the going rate around here is 8.00 to 11.00 perhour depending upon the age of the sitter. College girls I pay 11.00.
I hope that helps good luck,
