How Do YOU save Leftover Pizza?

*I* meticulously wrap each slice individually in tinfoil and put it in the fridge, labeled as to which kind each slice is.

My husband, smashes all leftover pieces into one box, and smashes the entire box in the fridge.

What do YOU do?

(please don't preach the evils of tinfoil)

What can I do next?

Ziplock bags (gallon size) takes up less room than the box. Then, if I know we won't eat soon I put in a freezer bag and into the freezer it goes.

Ziplock bags. 1 slice for me, 2 for hubby. That way they take up less space, you can tell the toppings & number of slices, and it's easy to grab and toss in a lunch bag/box.

I put the leftovers into a gallon size bag and throw it in the fridge. I hate pizza boxes in the fridge because they take up so much room!

fold the pieces in on themselves so the toppings are touching each other (and will come apart later) then wrap in foil. Then when I reheat. I upwrap foil, unfold pizza and put it just like that into the oven. Eat it, throw away foil. Done.
Pizza boxes in the fridge are so annoying....:)

In Ziploc bags in the fridge. If there's more than one kind I separate into different bags. Then eat it cold. Sometimes for breakfast. Yum.

I just stick them in a plastic container and snap on the cover. I'm not going to take the time to individually wrap each slice, and leaving it in the cardboard box allows it to dry out.

Leftover pizza?!?! My house hasn't seen any.... :-)
When it happens (prob. once a year), we just put it in the box and stick it in the fridge, usually lifting the box a little to be able to close the door... hahaha I'm laughing as I write this, never thought I would put it in writing... :0)

OMGoodness ~ my husband stuffs all the leftovers in the box and then shoves the box into the fridge just like your husband does. Makes me crazy b/c it doesn't stay fresh (dries out)!
I either put it in a big tupperware or wrap 1 or 2 pieces up in press-n-seal or foil for lunches (mine, husband's and son's) if work or school is the next day.

When we do have pizza leftover, I put it in a container with an airtight lid. It won't last more than a day later when the kids eat it after school.

I don't smash them, but all in one box in the fridge. If there is less than half a box left, I usually put it in tupperware or foil and put it in the fridge. I hate how pizza boxes take up so much room.

When we have left over pizza (and left overs are rare when your boy is almost a teen), we put it in zip lock bags.
We'll zap it in the microwave on a plate to warm it up later.

I just put them all together in one of the boxes. Then we we get it out to eat a piece you just pull out the whole box. If it's just a couple peices I just use sarran wrap so you can see them. I hate to waste the saran wrap. I have nothing against tinfoil by the way ;)

I put our pizza in the box - if it was ordered - or in a ziplock if I made it.

But I don't separate them or label them what they are...man - I guess I'm bad!! :)

I'd be HAPPY if Bob put it in the fridge instead of leaving it on the table for me to put away!!! :)

If we have enough pieces for the box, we keep it in the box. If it's 4 slices or less, tupperware. I like foil, but I try to save it for baking because it's hit or miss whether my husband will buy more if we run out.

I place them in a circle on a styrofoam plate and then put the plate into a large ziplock bag...sometimes I need to use 2 plates/bags. You can *see* what kind of pizza is on the plate and it stays nice and fresh :)

if only tinfoil were really 'tin' foil anymore. Your mom must've taught you that word, b/c there is no such thing as tinfoil anymore - only aluminum foil. Is it evil? I love it.

But anyway -- IF there is any leftovers, it's generally just a few slices. I put two slices face-to-face so that all toppings touch and only the crust touches the foil. I don't want to lose any of that yummy sauce or toppings. I don't want toppings and sauce on the crust of the piece that's on top of it. Know what I'm saying? The next morning my husband eats it cold anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter where the toppings end up - on top or on the bottom of the pizza.

Great. Now I'm hungry for pizza, but enchiladas are on our menu tonight.

lol! Well... I leave it on the counter or maybe stick it in the oven (for storage). I don't even refrigerate it until it is at least 24 hours old (maybe a slight exaggeration)... and if we still have it around after a day, I will wrap it in foil, slice by slice (minus the labeling). I like my pizza room temperature. And... we don't eat meat, so there really is no need to refrigerate right away! :-)

I stack them and wrap them in foil. :) I never label leftovers. I'm happy if it ends up in the fridge. We make our own pizza so it's usually the same thing. Last night's stayed on the table after the kids had a bath and then the next I knew they were running around eating the leftovers anyway. No leftovers. :(

If we have boxed pizza, I'm with your husband. Whatever gets it in the fridge and findable makes me happy, but if we have different size boxes, I keep the smallest. :)

J.L.

answers from Los Angeles on

Let the pizza get cold (by leaving it out on the counter for a few), then take the slices and put them in a ziplock bag. When the pizza is cold they don't stick to each other so they aren't smashed. My guy just puts the box or boxes in the fridge. He doesn't smash them into one box though.

I don't like foil because it doesn't keep the way I want. I use hard containers or zip bags. I toss 'em all in the fridge or freezer. When I'm ready to reheat, I use the oven.

depends...lol. if there's a lot, the whole box may go in the fridge. or i might put them on a paper plate (with a holder) and wrap them in either saran wrap or tin foil, whatever is handy. i didn't know there was a "right" or "wrong" way...lol!

I keep mine in the pizza box and put it in the oven for storage. However, when I go to use the oven again, I completely forget that the pizza box is still in there. The one time, I was smelling smoke and I was like what the heck? Where is that smell coming from? I open the oven and HELLO - there was my pizza box with left over pizza. The one time, I even had a pizza box start on fire. I had to grab it and throw it outside very quickly.

Just had yesterday's leftover Puzza Hut for dinner tonight! I had slipped the pieces in to a couple of zip lock bags, flattened the air out and stuck them in the fridge. Tonight when we came home , I slipped them onto the rack in the toaster oven, turned it on to light toast, ran through the shower, when we were in our jammies and all cleaned up the pizza was warm and toasty and ready to go! Yumm!
