How Do You Clean Your Baseboards?

How do you get your baseboards really clean? I can get most of the dust off my just using the attachment to my vacuum, but for the dust that stays I tried using the magic eraser, and it just makes the dust wet and darker and makes it stick more. Not to mention the magic eraser falls apart with just one wall! Arrgg! How do I do it? I thinking about just paying a cleaning service. :)

What can I do next?

I use the Magic Eraser if they are really bad and scuffed, but most of the time I just squirt a bit of liquid soap like Dawn into warm water and give the kids each a washcloth and make them do it :) (It is the job I give if they keep saying they are bored, lol)

Try cleaning with TPS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trisodium_phosphate

I also have a lot of luck with Mr. Clean. My baseboards are painted.

If they are really dirty, use some warm water, Murphys Oil Soap in a bucket and use an old toothbrush. Wipe with an old towel to dry.

Nothing better than Murphy's soap and elbow grease. (it says Oil Soap, but not greasy - FYI).

Just use a wet washcloth or clorox wipes - they have both worked well for me.

Once you do clean them, get a duster broom. It's a long-handle with a duster attachment on it. It's so easy once a week to run it on the baseboards. You can have a kid do it as a chore. It wil remove the dust. Then you can spot clean.

I think that if you have a few bucks to sprnd, hire a service to give them a good cleaning!

For quick and easy I use Clorox wipes or Magic Eraser but I sometimes feel really bad about being so wasteful so I also will just use a rag and some soap.

It's not what you use so much as the TIME it takes so that's the issue. Soap, water, other things mentioned all work well. I think the lysol or clorox wipes work easiest but cost more than soap and water and clean cloth.

Windex and old kitchen towel for the ones in the bathroom and around the kitchen. They seem to get the most dirty.
I will once in a while also use that for the ones in the entry way...makes it really smell like I have been cleaning all day long. lol ;)

You did not say if it is wood or painted...if it is wood taking a damp rag with some lemon oil on it can help. If it is painted as long as it is a washable paint you can use a rag with pretty much any type of multi surface cleaner. I find that by using some lemon oil it seems to repel the dust a little longer.
