Hey Moms, maybe a few of you could help me with some advice. I have 3 children, they are 1,3,and 8 years old. I am so happy to be home with them, we have fun during the day, we laugh sing, and they take great naps. Here is the problem, come 4 or 5 o'clock, they turn into little devils...ok not that bad, but they lose it, crying, hitting, holding my leg while I try to cook dinner, and then my husband walks in the door and I am about to lose it! Any advice on how to get through "witching hour" at my house?

What can I do next?

The witching hour!!! YiKeS! I hope your are getting some great feedback. The only thing I can think of, is to make between 5 and 6 before dinner quiet time for the kids. Have some pre-made 1 person games to play, coloring to do, or books to read. And if anyone talks to eachother, they get a time out. For the 2 year old, maybe a sensory activity, or even a sensory activity all together. Playing in water, or getting a plastic tub full of cornmeal, or rice or something like that and give them some utensils to play with it. Even hiding some colorful rocks inside the cornmeal or rice or something of that sort. Hopefuly those ideas help. For my son, one day a week he helps prepare dinner, (he is 2 and 1/5) maybe with the older one's that would help as well. Good luck to you!

you need to make sure they get a snck at around 3-4 pm. they are hungry. I went through this with my younger two and it about drove me nuts until I figured out that they were really hungry. The snack works wonders and no more Witching hour for us. Hope this helps.

Make sure you give them a snack about 3:00. It sounds as though blood sugar is getting low and they get cranky. Maybe a half hour or hour of quiet time would help too.
