and by that I mean constipation.
I've actually tried a number of things including, high fiber diet and water, stool softeners, glycerol suppository, dulcolax suppository. I don't just want to technically move my bowels, I need soft stools because of an existing condition. what worked for all of you? did anyone choose nausea over the constipation. to be honest I have had to choose nausea over constipation and give up on this miracle drug in my other pregnancies. But was hoping someone here had come up with the solution to this side effect. Thanks.
Update: this is not first trimester or iron related constipation. I had no troubles until I took the medication.

What can I do next?

Constipation isn't just a side effect of Zofran... it's the side effect of pregnancy in general as well as prenatal vitamins, especially ones high in iron.

I've taken Zofran for all 3 pregnancies and never had a side effect issue with it besides fatigue (which is also a general pregnancy symptom). If you choose between nausea and constipation, just choose whichever one is less harmful that you can deal with the best. For me, my nausea was so bad I had to take Zofran or else I would have been hospitalized. Metamucil is supposed to help soften stools.

I would also look into changing your prenatal vitamin, because that could be a cause too. Definitely talk to your Dr. about that. Also, here is some good advice on reducing constipation during pregnancy:

metamucil with a meal.

I'm assuming "high fiber diet" mean trying to eat fiber bars and such. I tried that too and then saw an ad for metamucil and their psylian (or something) fiber for cholesterol/heart. Since I was increasing fiber for cholesterol - I tried and love it!

Fair warning - do not **start** at the recommended 1tsp 3 times per day. I did and quickly found out that when the body isn't used to it, fiber creates uncomfortable gas. I backed off to about 1/2tsp at dinner and sometimes lunch.

Probiotics and yogurt. I took Zofran from beginning to end, and those did the trick for me.
