My daughter loves her board books so much that some of her favorites are starting to fall apart by the pages peeling away from the covers or at the binding. Has anyone had success repairing them so they don't completely rip apart. I was thinking of trying double stick tape or some sort of non-toxic glue, any suggestions?

I don't have any personal experience with this happening to board books but I would contact your local scrap booking store. I have seen board games hung up on walls as home decor and they have had some sort of protective sealant over them maybe it would work on books too. You may want to also consider contacting some where like Aaron Brothers (photos & frames) they might have a solution. Good luck to you.
Use clear packing tape. I've repaired my children's books this way and the ones for their daycare center which many, many children continue to use.
I've had good luck with Close To My Heart's Bonding Memories glue stick-pen on peeled apart board book pages and pop up page repairs.
For the binding, that's a little tougher, I'd use tape (NOT scotch tape, the duct or packing tape type) on the cover/binding. All tape eventually will peel apart I think, but some quicker than others. The Bonding Memories glue is non-toxic too (dunno about the tape)
Scotch makes a 2" wide clear Packaging Tape that works very well. Widely available.
I used Elmer's school glue to glue the peeling pages back together and clear packing tape on the binding. The glue works great. The tape can tear again but works pretty well. I like the idea of the colored duct tape -- it might last longer if you can use it on an external edge of the binding, then you could use the clear packing tape on the inside edges.
Try Modge POdge. It is acid free. It is generally used in 'altering art'/scrapping when converting board books to altered books.
You could buy archival tape and tape the entire book up considering it doesn't have stitching where the binding is located or what you could do is ask your local library and see what they have to say.
Hi B.,
You can use contact paper and it holds books together pretty well. Good luck! S. (Blessed mother of 9yr, 4yr adn 3 month)
My mom used to be an archivist and she taught me always to mend books with glue, never with tape. The tape tends to fail and come off over time, plus it spoils the pages.

Rubbery glue. For major repair jobs, packing tape type material.
duct tape. get red or a pretty color
You can purchase book binding tape at an office supply store like staples. It looks an awful lot like clear packing tape, but it is thicker and tears straight across. If you don't want to spend the money just use the clear packing tape on the binding and between the pages to hold them into the book. When the pages tear apart glue or tape them.
