Hi,
I have been searching the area too for a possible move...not sure where you and/or your husband will be working but from good sources I know the best place is in williams county....they have the best school districts.
Brentwood is expensive...all the wealthy people but things look reasonable in Nollensville, Franklin, and Thompson's Station....they are a bit far maybe from the city but you can't beat the schools.
Hope this helps,
Jen
I have to say Cheatham county its about 20 mins out of nashville depends on what part you live in. We live in Cheatham county and we commute to nashville everyday for work and it takes about 20 mins. Its country living, nice land, and quite. Brentwood and Franklin areas are expensive places to live. The schools are good in cheatham county as well. I have lived in cheatham county since i was 4 and im now 22. Me and my husband have some land up here and we dont want to move out of the county so we are going to build us a house on our land so we dont have to go look for a new house else where. Also davidson county (nashville) when you register your car it has to pass emissions so thats something to look at as well and i know other counties are doing the same and cheatham county doesnt.
Heres some facts of Cheatham county: Population in 2009 was 39,876, Whites 95.7%, Black 2.7%,Hispanic 2.3%.
Heres some facts of Nashville Davidson County: Population in 2009 was 635,710. Whites 67.4%, Black 27.4%, Hispanic 8.7%, Asian 2.9%
I moved here 2 1/2 years ago and we choose the Bellevue area. It's the southwest corner of Davidson county and borders Cheatham county. We love it here. Close to shopping, the highway and the country, with quiet neighborhoods and good schools. Also has some great parks for the family to enjoy. Without the stop at daycare everyday, my commute is about 15-20 minutes to the Vandy/West End area, depending on traffic.
House rentals seem slim in the area, but there are some good apartment complexes, which is always an option while you decide exactly which area you really want to settle down in to buy a house.
We live in Hermitage, about 20 minutes outside of Nashville. The area we live in is a quiet suburb with reasonably priced houses, fenced in backyards, and lots of kids. The elementary school is small and close enough that we walk every day that the weather allows. Most of the houses were built in the late 50's and early 60's and the neighborhoods have that feel to them. There are plenty of them available to rent if you wanted to try it out before you buy.
