I have an antique 3/4 size bed. I don't think they make 3/4 size mattresses anymore.. So the twin mattress would be too narrow and the full mattress would be too wide to fit the frame. Any ideas on what to do? I would love to use the bed, it was handed down from my grandmother.

What can I do next?

You have to special order a mattress. I just had a friend do this for her same sized bed and it was $350.

Have you tried to look at WHO manufactured the furniture? If not, find out who made it, contact them (they might still be in business (cross fingers).

You might be able to contact a mattress maker and find out what you can do.
Mattresses like this can also be found for "hide-a-beds" - go to a place that sells hide-a-beds and see what mattress sizes they have there...you might hit pay dirt!

Good luck! I hope you are able to use the furniture!

I just googled 3/4 size mattress and a bunch of sites came up. Did you try that yet? One site said measure your mattress and they will make a custom one for you. So, it looks like they still make 3/4 size mattresses.

Did you measure it? I bed a double bed fits it fine. There are so many sizes around now. If you look at mattresses you'll see there are some that are 16" thick, compare that to one that's 6" thick you can fit it so much better in other places.

Here is a size chart in inches and other countries sizes. I bet one of these will fit with some assistance on your slats and inside the rails. You might need to tack the headboard onto the wall then put a full mattress in front of it on a Hollywood frame. They are usually around $50 at some furniture stores.

A 3/4 bed used to be 48 inches wide by 75 inches long which would leave 3 inches open on each side if a twin was being used.

You can also go through a mattress company that makes them custom. We have one in our neighboring town and they made all the mattresses for my child care center small baby beds.

Original mattress factory makes mattresses to spec, I believe.

It might be tough finding sheets! You may need to have both made for you.

Apparently a 3/4 size bed is 48" by 75" .......... a full mattress is 54" by 75" ..... it would only hang over about 3" on each side. If you were using a box spring and mattress set, it could just rest on top of the side rails, and hang over a bit..... or are you concerned that the mattress would slide as it were used?
