So What Happened?

She's a college student & will be staying at our place. It's about a mile from her house.

If its a highschooler, I would say $150. ($20 a day plus a bit more).
if it is an adult/ professional dog walker, it might be their daily rate and then some, I think dogwalkers charge $35 a day, so I would round it up to $50 a day.
If its a neighbor, I would pay with a bottle of wine, and a $50-100 gift card to their favorite restaurant/ donation to a charity.

good luck to you and yours,

I would pay her $20 a day probably, or in that "range". A mile from her own home won't necessitate any extra expense for her for travel. As a college student, she may enjoy having the space to herself and having some independence (assuming she is living at home while in college, with parents?), or a break from noisy roommates.

Taking care of the dogs (in/out a few times a day and feeding/water) isn't that much work, really. Unless you have a list of chores required to take care of the house itself too (pool chemicals, lawn mowing, plants, etc)...
If so, then I'd bump it closer to $25/30 a day.

We pay $20 per visit (45 minute visit) twice a day and $40 to sleep over. We have 3 dogs.

It is worth it to have your house lived in and it is extra security as well. We've had the same mom and daughter team for 20 yrs.

We just paid one of my high school students $150 to house/pet sit for us for 6 days. We have a dog and a pig. I also have a garden that needed watering. She spent the night at our house, and does not have a job right now - she'll be a senior in high school this year. She was thrilled with $150.

My daughter just completed a stint doing this and she was paid $150 for a week and a half. They had three dogs - she fed them, took them out, played with them, and picked up after them. She went to the house three or four times a day starting at about 6 am and the last trip over at night was around 9:30. She's a senior in high school.
