My little one does not get out of her High Chair but an idea for you I bring my own portable seat it is the Fiaher price highchair that sits on the chairs. Good Luck!!
I need some advice on how to keep my just-turned-one year old in a highchair. We call her Houdini because she literally can get out of any buckle or strap. I think she gets a kick out of seeing our reaction because when we do dine out, she manages to wiggle free and attempt to stand up and clap while smiling. She tries to stand up in her chair at home, but I think the tray being so close helps much more than the wooden ones at restaurants. We have plans with friends to dine out a few times this week and I am DREADING it with my little escape artist! Any ideas ladies??? P.S. I've tried bringing my own food from home while we wait for the server to bring dinner, and also NUMEROUS different toys/books to amuse her.

Mine did the same thing, you probably have trouble with shopping carts and other things too. For the restaurant, we got a portable high chair that you put together, packs up into a 4x10x14 area, you just carry it with you and the tray keeps them in the chair. Their are some high chair covers that you can buy/make that you can put the straps where you need them to keep her in. Mine needs the 5 point harness system to keep her in anything, you could buy a used car seat for cheap and take the straps off and sew them onto a cover, just a thought. I think you can buy replacement straps at Babies-R-Us.
My daughter would do that too. It's amazing how they can get out of there.
We took away the highchair and she is now in a booster seat. It has the straps on it to keep her in and a tray. We don't use the tray - she sits right up at the table with us.
We take the booster seat with us where ever we go – even to family and friends. That way she’ll sit down and eat.
You have enough kids to know that each one is sooo different. Some need a stronger hand than others. If she were mine I would tell her to sit down or she will go to her bed - she will obviously proceed to get out - then I would tell he " I told you to sit down - now I will put you in your bed for not sitting down" Isolation works well at our house. She is soo little still so nost much else would be to effective. I would keep her in there for about 2-3 mins (that is a long time for a little one) Nothing should be in the crib - not even a blanket. Turn lights on and close the door. When you go back to get her tell her "let's try it again - let's sit down at the chair" tell her again if you stand up you will go back to your bed" if you are consistent and do this for about threee days that should take care of it. If it continues you could up the anti to a swat on the theigh and isolation.
Just think of all of the situations where you will need her to be confined for safety and for conveinence. It is very important for her to cooperate with you on this one. Too many freedoms cause more problems than any mom needs.
Good luck!
I would get one of those highchairs that hooks onto the side of a table. One of my friends used one and she and her little girl loved it. That way she will be really close to the table and there is not a wooden, sturdy surface for her to stand on or lean against. I really don't think she would be able to get out of it. Good Luck!
have you tried simply pushing the restaurant high chair way up close to the table? That way the table is as close as the tray would be on her chair at home, which should prevent her from being able to wriggle free....although then you have to make sure she can't reach anything on the table!!
You also could try letting her walk around the restaurant to look at stuff before your meal arrives, that way you are only asking her to sit still in the chair while you are eating.
Good luck!
My son is 14 months old, and just as eager to explore! Fisher Price makes something called a "Healthy Care Booster Seat" (available at Target for ~$25), which has a three point lap harness and buckle system, as well as a tray that fits close to the chair. It is small, compact, and easy to carry (one of the BEST baby shower gifts we ever received). Also, since it straps to a restaurant chair, she might feel more like a "big girl" and be more cooperative. So, if you're willing to try a new baby item, it could be worth a shot!
Here is a link to what I'm talking about, though it appears to be on backorder, so I would just go find one at any Target store:

I also have one who has started getting out of the shopping cart. If I have her shopping cart cover then she can't get out. I got mine at Target and it is made by Eddie Bauer, here is the link http://www.target.com/Eddie-Bauer-Shopping-Cart-Cover/dp/... she straps in and it ties to the restaurant high chair. Good Luck!
