We are flying out to Bermuda on a 6 am flight. We are about 45 minutes from the airport. I can get a hotel room near the airport for about $40 the night before. This will give us about an extra hour in the morning and will force my husband to finish packing the night before. My husband is continuously late for life and I usually lie to him and say we have to leave 15 minutes before we have to, but he's on to me so there is also the chance of leaving late in the morning. I'm willing to pay it, my husband's on the fence. What would you ladies do?
Since it's a Ramada Inn 2 miles from the airport, I think I may book it. I know my husband should get up and get going, but he won't and I don't want to start this vacation like every other vacation fighting over why he thinks he's got all the time in the world. We are just different. He pushes things until the last minute, and even though they always work out, I don't work that way. I'd rather get there early and have no worries. And since his work is the reason we are going on this trip, I don't have the option to leave him at home. I already have to worry about myself and my daughter getting ready, I don't think I should have to push him to get ready as well.
NO WAY!!!! Sleep in your own bed, then get yourself up a little early and MAKE him get his butt up and going. Neither of you will sleep in a cheap, nasty hotel near the airport, then probably making your trip that day miserable for you both.
I agree with Tracy K. Choose your hotel wisely! It really is bad on the 114 & 121. Maybe get a hotel that has a shuttle so they can take you there. Plus, don't you have to get to the airport 2 hours before because it is technically an international flight? I would find a nice hotel at the airport and stay the night. Enjoy!

As the wife of a man who is also always late I would book into the hotel the night before.
Relax and enjoy,instead of rushing around,screaming at him to hurry on and being mad as hell starting your hols!! lol

You're in Allen? Going to DFW? Very unpredictable traffic in the morning - well, I can predict it. It will suck! Go for the hotel. Just dont get it anywhere near Grapevine, 114 or 121. They have that looking like a war zone over there! I agree with Bernie. Get a headstart on vacation and take the mad dash out of the equation so your day starts off smoothly. Bring a bottle of bubbly and really get the party started!
There's some great park/sleep/fly options I would check them out. We use that when we fly out of chicago. We took a vacation to Jamaica for 7 days and parked, stayed in a hotel and had transportation to and from airport. It was AWESOME!!!:)
We are in Allen as well and we fly out of DFW and LOVE Field a lot.
I see no reason to get a hotel just to appease someone who is habitually late. We are always at the airport within an hour, most of the time earlier, especially for a 6am flight. If you hit the road by 6 the Dallas traffic is not bad.
Hubby needs to learn to be on time... or he may miss his flight. Maybe that is what it will take to wake him up to being timely!
EDIT: I just noticed $40 hotel. That is unheard of.... be wary of bed bugs and whatever else in something that cheap.
Well he'll probably be late in packing for the hotel too.
He will figure, its just for the hotel which is near the airport.
So why rush packing?
Makes no difference.
He will figure it out.
Just tell him to PACK. Or you will leave without him.
Or that you will pack for him, and he just has to put up with it and too bad if he does not have what he wants in HIS suitcase.
Or, he will miss his flight.
For $40 I would get the hotel without a doubt!
