Hospice Homes Around Southfield

Hello Moms!
My MIL is fading from brain cancer and we are looking at putting her into a Hospice Home. She is right now w/ Henry Ford Hospital and they have two facilities; what is odd, is that both facilities are full on beds and we are waiting for an opening. Does anyone have any other suggestions for Hospice Homes in the metro-Detoit area? If it could be around Southfield, Novi, Bloomfield, it would be helpful!

In advance, thank you!

Gina,
So sorry to hear about your MIL, I think you should try American House. It is an assisted living facility, but they have a medical team on site, and offer hospice. I have a 92 year old grandfather in law at one in Royal Oak that is an older facility, but there are newer ones in Rochester Hills. Go to www.americanhouse.org.
They provide 3 meals daily, laundry service & housecleaning, they also make the bed daily and empty the trash. THey have a facilities director who plans events etc. Good luck.

so sorry to hear about your MIL.

My mom has worked for Angela Hospice in Livonia (@ Newburgh and I-96/Schoolcraft) for a number of years and she LOVES it there! They treat the patients and families with such love, dignity & respect. My grandmother was there for a number of months and got fabulous care ~ and I promise it's not b/c I'm a bit biased :)

Not sure of the phone number, but I'll bet you can find it online. They have an inpatient facility, and also do in-home hospice, according to the family's and patient's preference.

Blessings,

B.

Good Morning Gina,
I am saddened to hear of your mother-in-laws cancer. Please be assured that you are not walking this path alone....many have gone before you.
My thought process is....if Henry Ford Hospice is at full capacity....ask them; the directors there for a referral in our area. Or maybe you could contact Hospice of Michigan either by phone or website....I would think that someone there might be able to assist you and your husband during this difficult time.
May the Lord grant you peace as you hold on to His Grace.

Gina, so sorry to hear about your MIL. I can recommend a wonderful hospice company: Odyssey Hospice
Ph: ###-###-#### or (877) 637-9432
Riverside Center

Southfield, MI 48034

They cared for my Mom in her last months and for a friend in his last months. I trust and believe in them so much I volunteer for them. They have an in-patient facility and in-home caregivers. I don't know how large the Henry Ford Hospice Homes are but keep in mind not all in-patient hospice facilities are large (like a hospital is). I have also heard wonderful things about Angela Hospice in Livonia.

Good luck and God Bless.

Hi Gina,
When my son's father died hospice came right to the home, we didn't put him in a facility. Did your family consider having hospice come to the home? Your hospital can put you in touch with a homecare hospice agency. I found that out when I was in the hospital at Botsford in Farmington Hills that they're affiliated with homecare hospice, my roommate was put on hospice and they set it up to come to her home as well. Good luck I hope this helps, my prayers go out to you and your family...
