Horton Hears a Who

Has anyone seen this movie? I'm thinking of taking my 2-year-old boy to see it this Friday, but I know that even kids' movies can be a little too mature or scary. I'm looking for moms' opinions on the movie, especially if their children do not watch T.V. much at all. Mathias doesn't care to see cartoons or any of that, but he has been to one movie and sat for it (with his day-care). For an idea of his personality, he's a peaceful little guy and not agressive like some little boys can be. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I took my kids to it. At the time one was 4 and the other was 2. My son (2) loved it, he sat thru the whole thing with his icee and popcorn. My 4 yr old went with grandma and grandpa to see it again.

C.,

In my opinion, 2 is two young to sit through a movie in a theater. I know others have done it, but if your little guy isn't used to seeing movies, I would think it would be too much for him.

And, something to think about, my friend took her 3 year old and had to leave before the movie even started because of the preview for the Speed Racer movie that ran before Horton. The preview scared him so bad, they couldn't stay.

I was bored to tears in that movie! Don't torture yourself, lol. Seriously. Not only was it a waste of $4 ($1 Tuesdays) plus gas $, but it was a waste of my time.

I took my girls, now 5 and 7, to see it when it first came out. My 7 yo saw it twice, she liked it. I think a lot would be over a 2 yos head and it may be boring. There are some parts that may seem scarey, but would probably be over a 2 yos head. If he has snacks and a blanket or other lovie and you go for the experience, not necessarily to watch the whole movie, it would be fun.

Hi - Aidan went to his 1st movie at 2 yrs (Cars) and lasted 1 hour. He loves the dvd but the theatre was so loud. Since turning 4, he has sat through the Bee Movie and Kung Fu Panda so definitely longer attention span. Just be prepared to leave early and keep in mind, the previews are not age relevant.

I took my 4 year old daughter to see it this past spring. We ended up leaving after about a 1/2 an hour because it was too scary for her. There is a vulture swooping down throughout the movie trying to get the other creatures. My daughter found this to be scary.

I have not seen the movie so I cant comment on that, but I wanted to tell you to think about one other thing. The first time I took my son to the movies, he was really wigged out by the loudness of it. If you think about it, movies are really loud and some of the noises are intended to surprise. These elements really scared my son (he was three at the time) and it made it hard for us to get him to return to the theater. When he finally agreed, it was only because I got him earplugs!! The other mom mentioned the previews too, I completely agree that those are sometimes trouble too.

We seen this in the theater a while ago. I thought as far as content/ appropriateness, it was pretty okay (unlike the Cat in the Hat. But my kids even seemed to get a bit bore with it by the end they were 7 & 4 when we seen it. I guess if it is too much for him you can always leave. I know I have a hard time dong that when I pay the money, but I know it would have saved me a time or two! LOL!

I saw this at the dollar theatre with my 3 and 5 year old. It kept both their attention and I did not think it was scary. It is not a new movie, so see if you can find a cheap theatre by your house. We sat through the whole movie (minus a few potty breaks), but would not have felt bad walking if i needed to as it was under $10 for all of us including snacks.

I saw it with my 4 year old when it first came out. We went to the Cinema & Cafe in New Hope so we were eating our food while we watched the movie. He loved it. He talked about it for weeks afterwards. The new movie he wants to see now is Kung Fu Panda and every time he sees a preview or a toy he gets super excited.
