One gift that we made that was fun for the kids and the grandmas was this. We purchased plain, solid colored aprons and some fabric paints in assorted colors (one for each child, as we had 5 it made it easier to tell whose print was whose when they dried). Then we let the kids put their hand-prints on the apron with the paints. Under each set of prints we made sure we labeled who and when and how old they were. Then across the top we put the words----Grandma's Helping Hands. These were a huge hit. Good luck in your search.

not sure if this will fit in with your thoughts but how about a batch of homemade muffins. or a pot of soup that your little one can wash the veggies and help cut with a pumpkin knife. you can put the soup into containers that your mom's can freeze and pull out when she wants to. that with a home made card would be a wonderful gift to me and i am a grandma lol

I LOVE making collages. Get a 8x10 frame from the dollar store, go to your local library (if you don't have a printer) and print wallet size pics of the kids out (off your facebook, or you can save them to a disk)... cut them out all pretty, put construction paper behind it, I'm talking LOTS of little pictures, add stickers or pretty ribbon and glitter, glue it all together, and stick it in the frame. It will cost less than $5 each, they're cheap to mail if you have to, all it will take is a little time and creative energy on your part. You could even put your kids hand or footprints in there. Another thought, speaking of handprints, but this is a little more expensive, buy small flower pots and acrylic paint, put the kids hand prints on the side with their names and the year, spray it with clear glaze, and glue pretty stones to the top and bottom. Put a flower in it, and you're done. Stuff like that lasts forever, and it's not tacky. We do cheap stuff like that every year, and we do it for the kids teachers also. Best wishes!

A fun, easy project to do is to decorate a terra cotta pot and put a plant in it. You could apply paint with sponges, cotton swabs or cotton balls. Make a variety of designs. Or use a stamp pad and stamp handprints or fingerprints to it. Varnish when paint is dry.

If any of them is into gardening you could paint rocks to place in their gardens. Or paint wooden pinwheels that you buy at a craft store.

We are doing these for grandparents this year:

I could not resist so I am actually doing one for myself as well, Happy Mother's Day to me =)

We have also done the terra cotta plant, we used handprints and feet prints around the bottom of the plant to make them look like flowers and stuff. Then we planted a flower and gave them away.

We also made cookie bouquets one year and I even saw a cupcake topiary in this months issue of Food Network Magazine that looked fun to make.

Good luck!
