Home Staging to Help Sell Our House

We have had our house on the market for almost 4 months with not one offer. All the feedback says its just a little too small. It is clutter free and very well maintained. I was wondering if we should bring in someone to look at staging. Has anyone done this and did it help? Do you know anyone that does staging. Would love any encouraging advice.

What can I do next?

Try watching HGTV shows that talk about how to get your home sold. They have great suggestions for any situation and you don't have to pay someone to do it. Things like, open all the windows & turn on all lights and lamps because light makes a room look bigger, or tilt the sofa at an angle for a bigger look. Maybe put some of your larger pieces of furniture in storage until the home is sold - big things like entertainment centers can make a room look smaller. You can also rent furniture from places like Cort Furniture Rental to help fill in any gaps or replace larger pieces temporarily.

I think staging can only help, particularly in this market. I know a professional organizer who does staging. Here's the information:

Clutter free is good. Here are some other tips that we were told and found helpful. Remove all personal/family photos and items. The idea is to make your home seem generic and not personalized, so the potential buyer can imagine themselves in the home. Put red/bright flowers in your front landscaping to add curb appeal. Consider eliminating any unnecessary furniture and have clear/open pathways. Maybe have a friend or neighbor help you take a look at your home with you. There may be things that you don't use/need everyday that could be packed away, but because you are use to seeing them, you may not think to remove them.

Think about who the potential buyers for your home are. We did our "take one" flier in English and Spanish to appeal to more buyers in our area.
