How many other moms have children who almost hit their heads on the tub spout, or hit them? I just bought a tub spout cover, but I was curious if anyone else has had this problem before?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I bought a cover for the spout, and it seems to be working well for my daughter. Thank you so much!

I'd say, yes, everyone has faced this issue, which is why they make tub spout covers now! There'd be no market for them otherwise!

I didn't have the problem but I did have the padded spout cover just in case. It wasn't a problem when I supervised my son, but he was the only one in the tub so it was easier to position him at the other end. I think parents who save time and water as well as increase the fun by bathing 2 kids at once (all good things) have to be more vigilant because, by definition, one kid is always closer to the spout.

i always had one for my kids. they bumped it a few times when bathing together and getting rowdy. but with the spout cover it didn't hurt them. i knew i wanted one when i found out i was having a baby. when i was a child i scraped my back on it and i didn't want my child to go thru that so i protected them.

Never an issue here. What is your kid doing to hit his/her head on the spout?

I just supervised my child while she was in the tub. No biggie.

There's a reason that spout covers are produced and sold. ;)
Of course, all kids have bumped their noggin on the spout. That's WHY you can buy that device in a store. LOL

I got a cover as a baby gift and so I used it...it was cute (a polar bear)...it lived on my tub spout for oh about eight years (coming off once and while for a trip through the dishwasher).

None of my children or myself ever hit our heads on the rubber polar bear/tub spout. Now it is uncovered and my kids occasionally still take baths rather than showers. I don't even think about it.

The thing I did really really like was in the package was a floating water thermometer (a seal in a ring of ice)....now I used the heck out of THAT... so not to get the water too hot. When it finally died I bought another floating thermometer not as cute and didn't match the polar bear but...anyways I almost always give a floating bath thermometer in every baby gift basket I put together for baby showers.

Good luck!!

No we managed to avoid that. I can't remember it being a big enough deal for me to ever get one. We bathed the little ones at the far end of the tub, and when they were old enough to get in together, they scooted down away from it.

I never had a cover. Neither of my kids ever bonked their head on the spout, but they sat at the opposite end of the tub during their baths.

How old is your child?
When my son was young (and too old to be bathed in the kitchen sink), I use to sit on the edge of the bath tub with my feet in the water to supervise our sons bath time.
It was a lot easier than trying to kneel next to the tub - and my knees would not have been able to stand it.
Since I was right there - he never got close to the spout and I made sure there was no jumping around.

I never bought one of those covers, but I am sure my kids bumped their heads on the spout at least once. Lots of kids do, that is why the covers are sold.

You didn't buy a cover before putting your little one in the tub? I just always had one, even when my kids were a bit older and taking baths. For fun and safety...but they never really got close to it because I was right there monitoring every thing.

I'm late answering this, but I worried so much about it when my kids we little. So yes, I bought one. It was an elephant. It sure made me feel they were safer.
