We will give cash, which I know will be appreciated, but how much?

We get together with the parents at a weekly Bible study and our daughter is their daughter's friend also. We all did a mission trip together last summer and she is a sweet girl. She will be going to the local community college and she has some learning disabilities so she has struggled in school and her parents are so proud, as are we.

What can I do next?

Wow, some people can afford alot I guess they must be blessed. In my neck of the woods, $20-$50 is average for a friend of the family.

Depends on how much you could afford (like Melissa J. said).

Can you do $50? If not, any amount will be appreciated. And maybe a handmade gift, picture collage of moments your daughters spent together?

Our baby sitter graduate last year and went to Princeton and we gave $550. This year had another family friend graduate and only gave $200, it depends what you can afford and what you think is warranted!

I agree, depends what you can afford, but I know at my HS graduation many of my parents' close friends and family members gave me checks for $100 - and that was 23 years ago. Or you could do an amount less than that, plus a book that you feel would be helpful or meaningful for her to have with a handwritten note inside.

All I have to say is this is the time to WRITE THIS DOWN! Figure out what you can afford and write down what is your "graduation from high school" amount - what is your "college graduation" amount - and what is your "wedding gift" (you can add showers, too, if you prefer to do $). Takes all the stress off - just buy a card and write a check.
