You said you've taken certain vitamins. Have you tried the fish oil/omega 3?
I have had high cholesterol for many years now and have been on and off prescription meds...I was totally off of meds for about a year or so and about 3 months ago I began taking certain vitamins to help reduce my levels. I was very dissapointed when my blood work came back and my levels are even higher. I really do not want to take prescription medication as I know the side affects this can have on other parts of the body. Can anyone suggest something natural that can be taken to help with cholesterol

There are some alternatives that can help.
1. garlic
2. red rice yeast (do not take if taking meds for it) 1 a day
3. fish tablets.
Go to a good vitamin store and talk to them.
Good Luck, I have it to.
I am involved with melaleuca, is that what you tried? My father in law uses the phytomega and his doc said stay on it it was working fine. The idea of mela is for you to sign up and also market it, sorta, anyways if you would like to try the phyto mega I would be happy to order it under my account so you dont have to agree to the product commitment points. I live in Goodyear. I will be placing an order this Friday if you are interested PLease call me ###-###-####. I promise I wont push you to sign up I will tell you a little about it only if you want to hear it, either way I can order you the pills you can also look it up on their site. Oh I think they are about $21.00 per month.
Hi K.,
OMEGA-3 vitamins will help. Try eating stuff that don't require oils to cook in, and keep your carbs down, trans fat to zero, and your total fat below 7 or an 8g. Read labels and make sure your product doesn't contain any cholesterol. When I had high cholesterol, I had to cut my carbs, and eat more protein. Within three months, there was a significant difference in my cholestrol total. I also heard that garlic will help break down cholesterol. I wish you well. I know on that show Rachael Ray, she had a guest on there that showed people what foods will break down cholestrol and help other vital parts in your body. Mostly he showed veggies. Let us know how you do in a few months. G.
Dear K.,
I hear your story and I am delighted to share with you that there IS a company that manufactures healthy alternatives to drugs and toxic products used in the home! Check out Melaleuca.com.....it's just a store that a lot of us shop in, cuz everything we buy is at wholesale, and it's completely safe to use in the home.....it's not an MLM company, it's just a cool store! You can check out the company by going to the website www.Melaleuca.com and just read about their credentials as a great manufacturing company that has been around for over 20 years! My family found the company from a friend and have chosen to shop there for 7 years now. Because their products are "safe" in the home AND I can buy them wholesale, if they manufacture what I need, that's where I buy it! If you want to take a peek at my business side you can go to my website www.MomsAreMomsForLife.com and I KNOW people have lowered their cholesterol taking the company's product called Phytomega. It's Omega 3's and it has done amazing things! If you want more information about it just contact me at my email ____@____.com and I'll share more. I am just like you.....if I can do it naturally without drugs....that's the road I choose to take. You can also contact me through my website and I'll know you aren't interested in connecting because of the business side of it but just to get more information about the products.
There ARE other alternatives to drugs......for a lot of health concerns....so please be encouraged ok? I pray this helps you.

My husband also takes prescription meds for his cholesterol. He also eats what I tell him to eat. There are many foods on the market now that help to reduce cholesterol. Oatmeal is our fave breakfast food now. You can do all sorts of things to give it flavor too. I have a food dehydrator and I am always drying apples for our oatmeal and combine that with brown sugar...sweetens it up, but better than white, and you have a yummy breakfast! Foods high in fiber help as well. Lots of green leafy veggies. Good luck on your quest!
Hello K.,
Maybe it's something in your diet too. Go with a RD and exercise at least twice a week. That will help you too. Good luck! Sylvia
