ok I know this sounds crazy, but I am a chiropractor and my 1st son got the hiccups all the time, so I started adjusting him. Cervical nerves 3,4, and 5 innervate the diaphram. So, when he got the hiccups I adjusted him and gave him water and they stopped with in a couple of minutes. I recommend an adjustment. Good luck!

I just started using gripe water the other day - it really works! My one month old cries every time she gets hiccups or gas as well.

"baby's bliss" gripe water works wonders. You can even get it at walgreens but it is easy to find online as well.

I second Alexandra's motion...Gripe Water is amazing stuff (and you don't have to use near as much as the bottle tells you). Almost immediately after my baby would start sucking on the dropper, he would stop hiccuping. Amazing! Of course, it may be just the act of drinking ANYTHING that helps, so you might want to try giving milk, water, or juice (not sure how old your baby is). If it was our baby's feeding time, we would just let him nurse or (later) give him a bottle and the hiccups would go away, too. But, often it was not feeding time, so the Gripe Water really did the trick. Highly recommended!!

Hope this helps,
D.

My baby did not grow out of the hiccups until he was around 4 to 5 months old. We bought the Gripe Water by Little Remedies that you can pick up in your local supermarket in the baby isle and it did the trick in a few minutes..... It is also good for colic as well. As he got older, we could give him water in his sippy cup and that helped.

S.,
Hi my name is S. and I have five year old daughter and when she was little she had the hiccups all the time. I gave her water with a little bit of sugar in it and it would take away the hiccups. That is what her pediatrician told us that what we should do. I hope this works for you goodluck.

Try putting a little powdered sugar on her pacifier. It worked for my daughter when she was a baby. And when I was a little girl the only thing that would make mine go away was to take a teaspoon on sugar with a water chaser.

Hey there,
I use "Little Tummmys" Gripe Water and it works immediately for hiccups. My baby gets them all the time as well! It's an herbal supplement with ginger and fennel. You can get it at the drug or grocery store. I ALWAYS keep some on hand, etc.

I agree with the other advice about the gripe water. I got a bottle at the health foods store almost immediately after we came home from the hospital. My little one would get hiccups when I was still pregnant with him at least 3 times a day. After he was born, he continued to get them very often. The gripe water we got had to be refrigerated after opening, so instead of giving it to him cold, we would run the syringe under hot tap water to make the stuff warm and he would take it no problem. It tastes very sweet! It really does work, after a couple of seconds those pesky hiccups were gone! Amazing! He is now a year old and the stuff is now expired, but we still had half a bottle left. You really don't have to give them as much as the bottle states, and in fact I never did. A few sucks worked great! Hope this helps!

You can feed her or give her a pacifier to help, but unfortunately it is just a part of being a baby!

THe sugar thing works great. But if you are out and about and have no access to sugar, just stick the pacifier in. The sucking motion helps a lot.

We have always used Gripe Water by Baby Bliss for tummy issues and have found that it will miraculously stop the hiccups. We just give the our little one a small amount and away they go. You can pick it up at Walgreens or a health food store.

Yes! Gripe water! I got mine at Toys R Us in the baby section and it works instantly. :)

Also, if you are breastfeeding her,let her latch on to your breast for a bit of an unscheduled drink and those pesky hiccups will stop after just a few sucks. :)

We would take their passy and wet the tip and dip it just a little in sugar and put it in their mouth they would go away. If the passy was not an option I just used my finger in sugar. It worked every time.
