Hi T.,
Don't worry sweetie, nobody is going to think bad of you. First of all, have you been taking some kind of prenatal vitamin? You can get them at a relatively low cost at Target or Walmart. The pharmacist can help you find a good one. It would also be good to take a DHA pill as well, again the pharmacist can help you. That is just in case you haven't been taking one. Now one avenue that I think might help you is contacting a local crisis pregnancy center. They can be very helpful with medicaid and some have a nurse on staff and offer ultrasound services. They also have maternity clothes, baby clothes and baby items that you can get by taking parenting classes and coming in for some helpful parenting counseling. Just Google crisis pregnancy center and see where there is one near you, or send me a message and let me know what part of the city you are in and I will help you get in contact with a center. Don't be too hard on yourself, you just need a little support and everybody does sometimes. I don't think you will get in any trouble for not going to the Doctor sooner, I mean that baby is coming:) So the most important thing now is to see if there is a way to get you to a doctor asap. Hang in there and let me know if I can help you find a crisis pregnancy center to get some more help. Congratulations on your new little one:)

There is nothing to feel bad about...Maybe you could chk into a mid-wife? Or maybe try and find a Pregnancy Help Center in your area....They maybe able to help you in many areas. Also, I'm not sure what area you live in...but there are some places that train people on doing ultrasounds, etc...and you can get ultrasounds done for free!!! I'm so sorry your going thru this alone. I too am a single mom and it's rough. My son's dad IS in his life and helps out though, but it's still hard bc he doesn't live here. Everything will be okay just continue to take care of yourself and don't worry about what others say...YOU know that you are doing everything you can...You can't control what others think and who cares..You are bringing a precious baby into the world and they are going to be more important that anything!!! Also, maybe if you are a member of a church ask if there are any nurses or anything that might be able to help or give you any advice. I know this isn't much, but I hope it helps and I wish you the best of luck. If you are in the Katy/Houston area let me know and I can get you the name of the place that does ultrasounds for free. That way you could at least have an ultrasound and see the baby and just make sure everything is okay!!!

When I got pregnant with my second child, I did not have insurance and I did not quite meet the Medicaid criteria. I found a clinic that went based off of my salary. I ended up paying like $20 a visit. Plus $59 for my ultrasound. Totally affordable. I live in Houston, so I am not quite sure WHERE in Texas you are. This particular clinic also had a Medicaid caseworker onsite that helped me to get Medicaid for my delivery. I did not like that I never saw the same doctor, but it was better than nothing. I was sure everything was good & the baby was healthy, which is what is important. There are clinics like that all over. Don't be worried or nervous. You are not the first (or the last) person caught in a situation like that.
If you live in Houston, I can try to find the info for you.

I just wanted to say that you aren't going to get into trouble--it is obvious you are doing everything you can! I am glad to see that some wonderful ladies have already given you advice, and places you can call for help. Please don't hesitate to contact any agency you can for help! Try not to beat yourself up, because you aren't doing yourself or your baby any favors by stressing out! When you go to your appt. make sure you talk to the doctor about where you will be delivering and get specific instructions about when to go to the hospital, etc. You never know, you may go into labor before you see the doctor again, and you want to know exactly what to do when that happens! Make sure you get the baby on Medicaid as soon as s/he is born--you may only have 30 days before it becomes extremely difficult. Also I believe there is a program called WIC which can help you with food and formula (if necessary--I highly advise you to try breastfeeding, as it is best for the baby as well as FREE). The website is http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/wichd/. The number in case you don't have web access is 1-800-942-3678. It looks like they also have clinics, so perhaps you could get in to see someone sooner than with your medicaid doctor. At least they can probably hook you up with some vitamins right now. Best of luck to you, and please let us know how it goes!

Sorry to hear you're having problems with Medicaid. It won't hurt to try to get a gold card in the mean time. There are clinics in various locations. Call this number for the eligibility line: ###-###-####

All the best to you and your coming bundle of joy.

T.,

No it doesn't sound bad! I had an illegitimate baby when I was your age too 100 years ago! Ha, ha! I would suggest that you contact United Way and they can assist you in referring you to the appropriate people who can help you with your financial problem, etc. You just dial 211 and that number will directly connect you with them. That is always a good place to start when you need help.

Good luck to you and your baby! I am assuming you are keeping the baby. J. in Katy, TX

T., relax. You will not get in trouble. You've tried your best. Eat right and take your vitamins. Most pregnancies go well, and it sounds like yours is. You can show up at the hospital in labor and the hospital will have to take you.
