Hi girls,

Is it true hep. A immunisation is Mandatory in Texas? Or is it just a rule the daycare my son attends has made up? They told us it's a new law.

Thank you, I.

What can I do next?

After reading some of the responses on here, I just wanted to add this quick link.

It's pretty good about dispelling some of the myths of vaccinations. I worked as a special ed teacher for awhile, and I've seen what happens when some children get those diseases that we thought we couldn't get here in the US. Only the child's doctor can say whether or not that child cannot receive the immunization due to a medical reason. As for a religious reason, well...anyway, a child's protection outweighs the risks.

It is mandatory, I work in childcare and as of September of last year it became mandatory and is a good idea because Hep A is spread very easily and destroy's your liver. You can check the websites listed below through the state. Hope this Helps!

Texas is an at choice state to have your kids immunized at all. You can get a waiver from the State Health Department and there are no questions asked.

I work at a pediatrician's office in Richardson. The Hep A in required in Texas for children between the ages of 2 and 5 in any type of childcare setting (including mother's day out). It is still optional for children 5 and over in public and most private schools. Hope this helps.
