I think your doctor is right, you should talk to someone. post partum is scary and real. Don't discount your feelings - I know it's something we all do to a certain extent but this is one of those times when you have to take care of yourself also. If you are unhappy, it will work it's way into the rest of your life and your ability to care for your kids/boyfriend. Don't feel guilty about needing help with the little ones or needing to get out by yourself or with friends or to a doctor appointment alone. We all feel this way I think, it just varies on level per person. I struggled with it when my son was born (he's 22 months now) and I didn't get the help I should have because I discounted it as something that I 'shouldn't feel'. I'm expecting my second in February and am wary of my feelings but I'm more prepared to ask for help this time around. Talk to someone, I think you'll find it helps in more ways than you will anticipate. :)

if i were you I would listen to your doctor. I am not sure if I would go to the E.R. but you could call your family doctor and he/she can get you in touch withsome one in your area who could help you. I went through the same thing with my last wo kids and it isn't easy. I was very comfortable going to my family doctor and talking to her. she put me on medication and things are better. You should really try to reach out to a friend of family member also. Even if yu just talk to them a few times a week of have them over for lunch it might you give you time to vent and have "adult" time.

Hi A.,

It sounds like you are going through post-partum. I felt the same way, I know it is probably a hard thing to say, I know for myself I felt like a bad mother for feeling the way I did. But once I got on the medicine I felt much better. I would definately follow your doctors orders, the sooner you get on treatment the sooner you will feel better. If you need to talk I would be happy to talk to you. I work till 5 pm and dont get home till about 6:00pm. My house # is ###-###-####. I hope you feel better soon.

Best of luck
J.

I think your doctor is right and you should talk to someone, but remember you are never alone, it's not all roses and sunshine but it can be wonderful!

Hey A.,
I agree with your doc, however Im confused as to why he didnt offer to put you on medication...I know that after I had my daughter 2 years ago I definately had post partum...when I spoke to my doc at my follow up he said if I felt I needed something then he would prescribe it for me....I know in my situation I had people to talk to and still felt down....felt like I couldnt do it (be a Mom) and really didnt want to either...Im here if you would like to talk....it is a very scary thing to experience...just know that it will get better...even though Im sure hearing that wont make it any better....
Meg :)
