Help....Ants In Laundry Room

I have ants in the laundry room!

I got Torro (spelling?) and used it outside the house as directed.

I put cucumber slices and that seem to attract the ants...some died near it....

I got the baits - brand is RAID...they seem to just by pass those traps.

I put red chillie powder along the baseboard as I saw them going in there...but they have just made mini tunnels and gone about their business.

This has been going on since Friday.

Any idea what else I should do?

To add insult to injury, my daughter left her unfinished macdonalds soda on the washer last night and this morning there were hundreds of ants in it, near it, around it....

Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Ant spray and Torre baits seem to be working.

I see that the ants were coming in from the garage now instead of the side of the house.

This morning there were no ants...

Interesting though...Lowes had run out of the Torre ant powder that you put around the perimeter of the house!

As suggested, will keep monitoring and use the Torre baits for a few months...

Thanks Ladies!

At one time I swear my ant population could have been classified as an infestation. Someone on this board recommended the Terro liquid ant baits and I need to find them and personally thank them! They killed off the colony and I no longer have trails of ants each spring. I can not say enough good things about the Terro liquid ant baits.

I have ants in various places in my house. At first I treated them with baits and spray as well as using a couple of natural things. The ants would go away and come back again later. Since I've stopped paying attention to them they still come and go, sometimes in one place, sometimes in a different place. I still leave baits, Terro, at all of those places. I don't know if they help. I only know that the ants will be in the bathroom or kitchen for a few days and not be there for a few weeks and then they're back again.

Sometimes I can see that they were attracted to food and when I remove the food they go away within a few hours. Other times this doesn't help. I've also noticed that they're there because they're attracted by the electric tooth brush stand. Somehow the heat seems to attract them. When I lift the stand up it's black with ants.

I just do not see having ants as a problem. We can live together peaceably. I choose to not engage in the ant wars. LOL

Terro bait traps work great, but are very poisonous to people and animals. I'd use those anyplace you can safely, especially place one under your washer and dryer. Cornstarch works very well also and is safe for all. I'd use that everywhere you can't use a Terro trap. Most importantly, you need to clear the area of ALL food sources or you'll be fighting an uphill battle.

We've used baby powder along in front of the outside doors and at the windows. Worked VERY well.

I asked my brother how to get rid of ants without cemicals because of our pets. He told me oatmeal. They will eat it and then it will make them explode because they can not digest it.

Ants will not cross a solid line of... cinnamon! Tried it in a town house last year. Worked like a charm!
