Hey All,

So I accidentally left a vitamin and fish oil pill in my jeans the last time I washed them. Now they smell like fish and I can't get the smell out. I've tried washing them with vinegar, oxyclean, and I even sprayed them down with Febreeze. Nothing has worked! Please help!

What can I do next?

Baking soda should do the trick! There are instructions on the box for how to use it in the washing machine.

Try soaking them overnight in baking soda... then wash again in fresh water with detergent and more baking soda... and I agree with letting them bake in the sun, if you have enough sun right now to do that! The sun can work wonders to bake smells out of things... may lighten them a bit, though! Make sure you rotate them from front to back!

Air them in the sun for a day or two (or three).

I use baking soda as a deoderizer when stuff like that happens.

I would toss them. The smell would make me crazy! I am notorious for
leaving things in pockets!

Try handwashing them with Dawn dish soap, or something comparable. It's probably the oil residue that is holding the smell. It is not the same issue, but it was the only thing that got bright red lipstick out of my daughters comforter when she was younger (oh how creative you can get durning the terrible twos lol)

Keep washing. It will come out eventually. Keep using vinegar in the wash.

maybe soak them in the sink first in either vinegar or someone told me Hydo Peroxide is really good for smells. I would soak them for an hour or so in peroxide then wash in vinegar. Don't dry them, let them dry in the sun. Sun is supposed to help get smells out too.
