So What Happened?

As several people advised I contacted the Purple bag and the gerber people the nexxt day i recieved in the mail coupons from gerber and a month supply from the purple. I love the idea of doing the ice cubes, it is easier to freeze that way and then i can put it in the bags to take to daycare and daycare loves it because 1 cube is 1 oz. that was great....

Hi B.:
I've never used breast feeding bags. I freeze my milk in ice cube containers then put the cubes in dated freezer bags. Each cube is about one ounce so I can defrost one bottle at a time. I don't know if this is a feasible solution for daycare, but it's always worked for us! good luck

Hi B.,
I used Lansinoh and didn't have any leaking issues. When I was using them (about 3 years ago), I could only seem to find them at Target, but they may carry them in other stores now. I really liked them.

Good luck!

Try using the Lansinoh ones. They have a double zip lock. I like them.

Hi B. I used Lansinoh bags I think they come in a purple box. They seemed to be the best price, held the most and only leaked if I ripped the bag which was very seldom. I would double bag but putting several small bags into a larger ziploc and there by not waisting any milk. Hope this helps!

I didn't have any problems with the Gerber, but I did also have good luck with the Lansinoh brand. And for a while I just used the plastic storage bottles that were made by Medela to go with our breast pump.

Like I said, I never had a problem with the Gerber ones, so you might want to take them back to the store or call the Gerber 800# to complain.

I never used the bags. I used the small plastic bottles from the NICU. My son was preemie, so I ended up with a ton of those little bottles with lids already attached. You may want to check with your local hospital or hospital supply store and see if you can buy some in bulk. They're awesome. They're very easy to use, clean, and store. I found them to be really convenient.

I haven't had trouble with the Gerber bags...maybe you just need to give them a little lesson in how to use them?

I like the Medela bags... Out of 50+ that I have used, I only had a problem with one leaking (which was ripped along the bottom corner. Good Luck!

I used the Lansinoh ones and they were great. I'd say out of every 100 I had *maybe* one that leaked.

Pack them in a Ziplock bag, just in case.

I have always used the Playtex milk storage kit. they were so easy to use and they ended up being cheaper in the long run. You can use the drop in liners. I started with 2 boxes, which are about $10 each, but you can use them over and over. When I pumped, I screwed the fitting onto an old bottle then when I was finished I could just take it off the pump and screw the lid on the take the bottle off. This prevented all the spillage and mess I got with the bags. Then when you want to feed your baby, you can screw a bottle on the bottom, take the lid off and screw a nipple on. It was so easy! I highly recommend them!

I use the Lansinoh also, they are great. But any bag that gets that brittle may have the tendency to get holes poked in...maybe put your milk bag in a zip lock for day care just in case or better yet put them in the bottle before you take them to day care. Breast milk is liquid gold, most day care workers are not going to see it that way!!

I used baby food jars. When I started storing, I requested that all of my friends save their jars for me. A year and a half later, I'm still using them, but now I freeze soup in them. I feel that glass is better than plastic for baby anyway. :)

Ditto exactly Ellisa. Use to use Gerber, which were fine, but now use Lansinoh because it's at the store I go to now. Call Gerber and give them the batch number if you have it--maybe they'll send you replacements to keep your business. Good luck!

Okay, I am going to buck the trend. I never used the bags. I would and still do put my milk in reusable 16oz Rubbermaid containers after I pump it. I sterilized it first and then just re-use it. Since breastmilk is good for a week in the refrigerator I put one days worth of pumped milk in the container and then my babysitter just shakes it and fills the bottles from there. Neither daughter has had any problems with it, it is cheaper, and it is less wasteful for the environment. I know some of you will think that is awful, but it works well for me.

I used the Lasinoh bags. I liked those. I also used (I think) Gerber, that had a double seal on them. I used the plastic bottles, which was great, you could just add the nipple and ring and feed the baby.
The glass baby food jars work great too.

Good Luck.

Hi B.,

I used Lansinoh bags, they're in a purple box and I use to get them in Target.
The other thing I used to use was some Aventy containers, thy're kind of plastic cups with a blue lid that are good to freeze and heat (also target or babies r us).
Hope this helps!
