Help with Finding a Book for My 1St Grader

My 1st grader has a oral presentation coming up in a couple weeks about a president. She has to pick her favorite president and talk about him. I would like to find a very kid freindly book on all the presidents so she can read it and decide on her own whom she would like to talk about. I've tried google but haven't really came up with anything that looks good for a 1st grader. I also don't really want to go the route of getting a book on each president. I want a book that would summarize each president for her and then go from there. Anyone have any book ideas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the ideas. I will be looking into the library. I have access to an online library database where I can request books from multiple libraries in the area and pick them up at my local library so I was looking for some book titles. This saves me time as I'm a full time working mom who usually does not have time on the weekends or after work time to cruise the library. I have a librarian friend who is going to email me some book ideas that she comes up with, too. But I appreciate the help here too.

(FYI: My daughter's only allowed one school library book out at a time and it reserved for an AR book she is tested on. :) However, wee do visit the library when we have more time in the summer and join the summer reading program.)

Have you tried the library? I substitute teach in 1st grade a lot and we've been working on President's the past couple of weeks.

We've used several books that are pretty short, sweet and to the point. One book inparticular.....I don't recall the author but the books are very short, hit key points, they are small, blue and have a timeline.

The school library should have them. Good luck.

Take her to the library and let her look at the books and find one she is really interested in. that way she likes who she is talking about. the lady at the library can help her to.

I would go to the library and talk to the librarian. They are a great source and know what books are good and will help you find what you're looking for.

I don't have a book to suggest for all the presidents but there is a good book called Mr Lincoln's Hat.
