We use Stager Jr and he is good. He can sometimes be a little abrupt, but will slow down and give the details if you push just a little. I also have a friend who uses Stager Sr and she loves him.
My daughter has been seeing Dr Leffler in Plano since she was 3. He did surgery then for strabissmus on both eyes. She now has 20/100+ in one eye so she can't see ANYTHING out of it. The surgery straightened her eyes out beautifully, but I don't understand why she isn't using that eye still. Her glasses were causing problems at school because they were forcing her to use that eye and her eyes would just water so bad she couldn't see and she was obviously in pain. The teacher stopped making her wear them because she said she would fall behind in reading. Any suggestions for eye patching? Any eye doctor between McKinney and Plano you would suggest?

Stager Jr is who we have used for the eye surgery that you had and my daughter really liked him. It does take 2 months to get!
Call Dr. Alan Davis. He's awesome!!! J.
I have worked with several parents whom have been thrilled with Dr. Charles Shidlofsky. He is located at Parker & Dallas Tollway.
I hope you find what you need for your child,
S.
I would highly recommend Dr. Davis. He is over there by Presbyterian Hospital in Plano. If the one eye is really bad, then the brain is going to try and use the good eye. Over time, it will stop using the one eye altogether. This is why they patch the good eye (to force the brain to use the other eye). If they weren't able to correct the vision to where both eyes would see similar with corrective lenses, then I'm not sure how it works. My son had to wear a patch on one eye, but with corrective lenses, both eyes see close to the same (although still not 20/20). He only had to wear his patch for about 6 months until he trained the other eye for use.

My daughter has been going to Dr. Alan Davis ###-###-####) at Presby Plano for the last 9 years. She had to wear a patch for a few hours each day for several years. Her vision has improved so much that she isn't even wearing glasses now.
I second doctor Stager. My daughter actually goes to the one near Highland Park...Dr. Stager Sr. My mother is in the medical field and always gets info on the best of the best doctors and he is who she came up with. It does take 2 months to get in; which is how you know he is good! Maybe if you explain the situation he can get her in sooner? He also, opens at like 6:00 am so you can get in and out before you even have to work or go to school!
Good Luck, L.
I take my children to Dr. Stager, Jr at Coit and 15th. His number is: ###-###-#### I know several people who go to him and have had surgeries done etc. My oldest son has one eye more far-sighted than the other, which can lead to amblyopia (using only one eye, therefore, not have binocular vision and losing depth perception). He wore a patch on one eye when he was younger. My middle child is just extremely farsighted in both eyes, but we hope to wean her off her contacts as she gets older and her eye grows. My youngest has no vision issues, but we take him to Dr. Stager, Jr, just to monitor. We actually started with our daughter, at Dr. Leffler's. He did her surgeries for blocked tear ducts (inserted tubes, then removed them). He discovered her far-sightedness, but we ended up switching to Stager, Jr, because I wasn't crazy about Dr. Leffler's "bedside manner". I had lots of questions, and he always seemed to demean me or be annoyed by my questions. Obviously, I was so concerned... my daughter was only 2 at the time, so I switched to someone who would explain more to us and we have found that with Dr. Stager, Jr.
I agree with the posters about Dr. Davis or Dr. Stager Jr. They are in the same practive but different locations. Here is the website: http://www.popacas.com/phy3.htm
My daughter has strambismus and hasn't had the surgery yet but she is farsighted and wears bifocals. She is doing well but we may have to have the surgery due to her increasing crossing. Her eyesight hasn't gotten worse but the crossing has. She is three. We see Dr. Alan Davis. You should definately check them out!
