I found its easier to introduce whole milk slowly. 3/4 formula 1/4 whole milk for the first 2-3 days. 1/2 formula 1/2 whole milk for 2-3 days. Then 3/4 whole milk 1/4 formula for 2-3 days. Finally only whole milk. This usually will do the trick!~:-)

My son just turned one. I started off with say an eight ounce bottle. I would put 6 oz of formula and the other 2 oz milk, I'd do that for a couple of days. Then I put 4 oz of formula and 4 oz of milk. I slowly got him use the the taste of milk and he didn't really have any constipation doing it like this. He loves his milk now. Good Luck. Hope it works for you.

Hi D.. When my son turned one, I started mixing the milk in with his formula. About 1/2 formula and 1/2 milk. And then we gradually increased the milk over the formula. Before you know it, he will be drinking all milk. Hope this helps.

I have a 16 month old and this is what I did. I switched her to the Next Step formula (Similac Go & Grow in my case). Then, I started giving her regular whole milk during the day in her sippy cup. Then, I gave her the Next Step formula in the bottle in the evenings, night & mornings. It gave her the extra nutrition she still needed (that she cannot get from regular milk) while at the same time was getting her used to drinking regular milk during the day. She naturally started getting used to drinking regular milk. Then, eventually (last month) I started giving her regular milk only. I still occasionally give her the Next Step formula in her cup, if I feel she didn't get a well balanced meal that day (as a nutritional supplement). I did not have any issues w/ my method, and I think it gave her the nutritional boost she needed while learning to eat regular food. Good luck :-)

Just start out slowly. If he drinks 8 oz at a time, then start out with 1 oz milk and 7 oz formula. Do this for about a week and then move up to 2 oz milk to 6 oz formula. Little by little you will increase it until you are 100% milk. This will help introduce the new flavor and texture of regular milk. It will also help his digestive system as many kids get constipated when milk is introduced - especially when it is done too quickly.

Good luck!

I had a friends whose child had a lot of diarrhea from the transition so when it was my turn I made the transition over several days and my son had no issues. I increased the ratio of formula to milk by 2 ounces each day. Example if you are giving 8 oz, Day 1 = 2 oz milk, 6 oz formula. Day 2 = 4 oz milk, 4 oz formula and so on. If you see their stools getting really soft or liquidy I would go back to the day they had no problems and stay there for a couple of days before increasing more.

i am actually doing it now.. (just started today) ;-)
my daughter is on soy formula, so what i am doing is this... she typically takes 6 oz bottles. 3 a day. I make her bottles ever morning and send them to daycare. I put 4oz of formula and 2 ozs of milk in todays bottles. I will do that for at least 2 weeks, maybe longer if i feel it necessary. THEN, i will move it up to 2oz of formula and 4oz of milk. I will do that for at least 2 weeks, maybe longer. THEN she will be on 6oz of milk.

Thats what i did with my son (who was also on soy formula) and it worked out great!

just take the transition slow. You know your lil one. you will know whats right! GOOD LUCK!

I did an ounce at a time just to be on the safe side and I did this daily so it took me 8 days to wean her off of formula. I probably didn't have to be that drastic but I was a first time mom and didn't want to upset her tummy just incase.

Just try giving him milk. If that doesn't work then do the following. Start mixing milk with his formula. Each time leaving out more of the formula and adding more milk. Before you know it he will be on milk.

You could try mixing some formula with some milk. Do a 25%/75% at first then move to 50%/50% and then all whole milk.

D.-

I am actually going through this process with my son, and it is working quite well. My pediatrician recommended the process we are using, and this is what they said:

- 5 days- 1/4 whole milk and 3/4 formula

- 5 days- 1/2 whole milk and 1/2 formula

- 5 days- 3/4 whole milk and 1/4 formula

After the final 5 days he should be able to drink only milk. Just be sure to watch for diarrhea or other symptoms that would show that he is having problems digesting the milk. My ped also recommended that if he is not taking it well to quit the milk for a few days. Good luck!
