Help! Sex Hurting After a C-section

Hi Wise Moms,
I had a C-Section 8 weeks ago. When I went in for my 6 week OB-GYN follow-up, I noticed the Pap Smear hurt terribly. (It never has before.) The other night my husband and I tried to make love for the first time post baby and it also hurt a lot. Is this normal? I did wind up dilating to 10 cm during labor. My OBGYN said my uterus has shifted a little but I'm really concerned. The sex was so painful we had to stop! Has this happened to anyone else -- and please tell me it'll get better soon!

What can I do next?

L.,

Don't know if you're nursing, but it can make you vaginally dry and make sex hurt.

Good luck.

I have a similar problem, I also had a c-section delivery, but only dilated to 4cm during labor. Now I'm told that my uterus is tilted toward the back. I sometimes have pain with sex in certain positions, and unfortunately pap smears are super uncomfortable for me.

I suggest you talk to your doctor seriously about these concerns, and if they will not listen, get a second opinion.

No, this does not sound typical. I'd call my dr right awa and get it looked at. If they don't take you seriously get another opinion, perhaps a woman OH?

Hi, L.. I had two c-sections and after my first one, it definitely hurt the first several times my husband and I had sex. However, that stopped a couple of months later (and honestly, although I have always adored my husband, I was too tired and physically worn out to want sex much before then anyway.) Don't worry about it; this too shall pass.

I had a c-section and had the same problem. I asked my friends who had natural childbirth and those who had c-sections... all said the same thing, "it hurts like you know what the first few times." Take sex slowly, be sure you are very ready (if you know what I mean), and know that it will get better.

Yes, very uncomfortable and discomfort. It's like starting all over again and the more you do it the more normal and better it will feel.

I had three c-sections and yes i had pain too. Try to
give yourself a few more weeks of rest and let your body heal itself, then try it again youll notice that it will get better in time.
Also ask your partner to be soft and not to penetrate all the way at the beggining.
Youll be fine.
