This happened to me years ago and after having tested negative a few times for a uti, my dr. recommended a gyn exam. That revealed ovarian cysts which were treated. I felt much better afterward.
has anyone has UTI symptoms but no UTI. I went to the Dr on Wed they did a urine test and is came back negative. I still feel yuckky and when I spoke to the nurse yesterday she said push fluids and cranberry juice. Does seem to be working has this happened to anyone else?
wow wow wow thanks for all of the great responses! Iam definately going to try the over the counter remedy that was suggested and I am going to follow up with the dr in a few days, thanks again for the info!

I worked at a urology office as a secretary for a 1 1/2 year, and saw this occur often. Push the fluids as instructed and leave another urine sample in about a week from the first one (if you still feel gross). Sometimes the bacteria that is making you feel yucky takes time to grow large enough in numbers for the test to pick up on it. No matter what, if you feel gross, do not let the office blow you off!
I have this problam all the time. Go to Rite Aid and get what is called REFREASH. It will help balance the PH in your body. IT is 20 dollers but it works. I do 1 treatment at a time and it will go away. Good luck & let me know how it works for you.
They probably did a urine dipstick test? Dipstick or urinalysis both catch most, but not all UTI's- so you very well may still have a minor infection going on, but depending on your symptoms it could also be urethral irritation from another cause, or a vaginal infection.
This happened to me recently, thought it was a UTI but it did not respond to antibiotics- it turned out it was something new I was using in the bath causing irritation (but felt JUST like a UTI does) SO if you take baths, switch to showers for a while or use new products and see if that does any good.
you may have urethritis. ask your ob if a trial of amoxicillin would be helpful
Yes, this happens to me occasionally if I eat foods that are acidic. If I have been drinking a lot of soda, I notice it as well. My mom was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis which causes painful bladder symptoms without infection, and I guess I am prone to it as well. So I watch what I eat and drink and drink a lot of clear liquids and cranberry juice when it flares up. I don't know if you're experiencing the same thing, but you may want to check out the following website for more info:http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/kudiseases/pubs/interstitialc...
Hope that helps and you're not alone! Always check if you have an infection (there's over-the-counter tests you can get).
Hi D.,
I just thought I'd relay my experience recently. I've been plagued with uti's all my life, I'm 57 next week (ugh). I recently started balancing my body cleansing of acid, yeast, and molds. Get the PH miracle book by Dr. Young. I am now supplementing with 'greens', a powder mix of 'greens' (tastes like green tea, really yummie with lemon). I do a modified food plan, as the PH food plan is all vegan. So, I do eat fish, some meat and chicken, but mostly fresh greens and tofu etc.
Two major things have happened. I totally got rid of my uti and all symptoms. I had a test last week, and overheard the tech say to the physicians assistant "she got rid of it all, I don't know how she did it"!. The other thing that happened, in very quick fashion, is my blood sugar levels became very, very normal (I'm diabetic). Oh, weight loss too.
I would recommend this to everyone for good health, cleaning of the body of yeast (that's what creates that uti environment), molds, digestive system, colon. The person I went to was Kate Acton in Osterville. Her number is ###-###-####. Try it, you won't believe it. I have nothing to gain from this, just am so happy with the results.
Regards,
L.
YES! I get UTI's all the time. The last time I thought I had one. The tests came back negative. I had a retes because I was sure I had one, I was so uncomfortable. Negative again.
I did drink a ton of water and the symptoms did go away after a few days.
Hi D.,
1. Two times that I can think of right now I was told that I had no UTI, but had symptoms. I insisted that the doctor take a blood sample and test that. Both times it came up positive in the blood. Sometimes you just don't have enough in your urine for the test to show positive in the office, yet it is enough to cause you discomfort. Go back and ask for a blood test.
2. Fluids are definitely good. Stay away from caffeine/salt and anything else that will take fluid away from your digestive tract. You don't want to cause a whole bunch of other things by not taking in enough fluids. However, unless you drink gallons of cranberry juice, I have read recently that there is no actual scientific evidence that it will help, more than being another fluid. The amount of acid in the cranberry juice just isn't high enough in normal quantities. That being said, I do drink it because I like it, it can't hurt, it is healthy (especially the kind without added sugar), and I'm convinced that it helps me--whether or not it is the placebo effect, I don't care.
I have had similar experiences. It really just means that your body could be getting dehydrated. I've also had UTI and it's very painful and even with antibiotics you need to keep the fluids going. Avoid caffine for a couple of days and focus on water, cranberry juice, and even those travel size crystal light packets you add to water (just to change it up). You should notice a difference within a day. Good luck and I hope you feel better.
Hi there,
Did your doctor mention interstitial cystitis? Similar symptoms have happened to me in the past and the UTI tests are always negative. So I was told to take pyridiam (spelling may be off) by AZO to relax the bladder; cranberry pills have worked tremendously, especially before coffee. And drinking lots of water. I like the cranberry pills vs. juice because the acid seems less. Anyway, check with your doctor of course before taking my recommendations. The urologist's nurse practitioner told me that they see this a lot; they call it the "Starbucks Syndrome" (excessive coffee drinking can bring it on). Hope it helps! Best, J. L
I did for two years. Really sucked. It turned out to be stress.
Hi,
Sometimes it's just irritation from pools, perspiration, new TP, etc. I just take a dose of Uristat and it takes care of the irritation & symptoms. It's over the counter and you can get it anywhere.
