I'm a new resident to America from Australia so I have no idea where to start and I dont know anyone who can recommend someone for me. I'm just over 2 months pregnant and I would like someone who I can relate to and feel comfortable with who will be there till the end of the birth. This is my first pregnancy so I would like someone who will really take good patient care with me. I am fully covered with CIGNA insurance. Please anyone who can help you really will be helping me so much I'm tired of searching the internt and coming up with foreign names etc.. its soo confusing and I'm only 24. I would prefer a female also with alot of experience. thanks so much in advance.

What can I do next?

There is a great group of midwives who deliver out of Laurel hospital. You are lucky enough to have this group near to you. There are also other midwives practicing out of Howard hospital, as well as other groups a little farther out.
Feel free to contact me if you want more details. I'm a birth doula and have details about many practices in the area.

Chesapeake Women's Care, located in Annapolis, with an office also in Crofton, is great. It is a large practice, so you'll see several doctors, but you can choose who is your primary doctor that will deliver your baby. Dr. Leucke is a female, and is wonderful. I've also seen Dr. Keith, another female, and she is very patient and knowledgeable. Really, I've been happy with all of the docs there, men included. Dr. Penn, male, delivered my son and was fantastic. Also, the staff there is super-nice and whenever I've called to ask my doc a question, they are prompt at returning calls, which I especially appreciate.
Good luck and happy pregnancy!

I like Dr. Kimberly Turner -- she is located in Columbia in the Medical Arts Building right next to Howard County General Hospital, which is GREAT!!! I delivered my son there 3 years ago and had a wonderful expierence. GOOD LUCK!!!

I would stay away from capitol Womens care. Its a REALLY large practice and not so welcoming at times. Try Ahmad Mufarrij...he's a male but truly awesome!

I moved here about 6 moths ago (near Burtonsville) and have found that you have to go to Columbia or near Holy Cross Hospital for good medical care (that's if you don't care to drive to Bethesda either). I would research the hospitals you desire to give birth in and start from there. My research indicated Laurel Regional received very poor reviews and dissatisfied customers.
