My beloved sister recently continued to feel totally exhausted and had a weird cough after the flu. So she went to the Dr. They did a physical and ran an EKG. Well, it came back grossly abnormal. She had a nuclear stress test, echogram, cardiac catheterization and they diagnosed her with pulmonary hypertension. If you have an experience of any kind with this please share it with me. She is very worried after time on the internet searching this. She has another week before she meets with her cardiologist for more information. I'm looking for information for both my sister and myself. Please help! I am afraid for her and worried. Thanks in advance for your support. Please keep her in your prayers and she continues to learn about her condition and her treatment.

Hi L.,

If you're the same L. S who was looking for the yoga instructor for your sister, that's a great thing for hypertension! :) Also, I am a Holistic Health & Nutritional Counselor and would be happy to give your sister a complimentary Health History to see how I could help her. Please have her contact me at ###-###-####.

Warm Regards,
G. Van Luven

I agree with the earlier post about seeing a specialist - the pulmonologist.

If your sister is worried from the internet searching, you might want to reassure her that there is more info to be learned. It's easy to take a broad diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension and get freaked out when you start internet searching.

My sister had primary pulmonary hypertension (PPH), and it was awful, scary, and horrible. Words cannot describe how helpless I felt when the diagnosis was finally confirmed. PPH is ultra rare, so please know that your sister most likely does NOT have PPH.

Visiting the Pulmonary Hypertension Association website will probably help you more than any other website out there. I participated in a support group, and it was helpful for me as the caregiver. The website is http://www.phassociation.org

I'm not sure if my post has really helped or not. Please feel free to contact me privately if you'd like to talk further. I will do what I can to listen and encourage you.

Check www.mercola.com for some advice on natural things she can do, that may help. There is a search bar on the website where she can type in Pulmonary Hypertension and hopefully it will give her some helpful results. I wish you both well!

There was just an episode about pulmonary hypertension on Disovery Health Mystery Diagnosis. Here is a link to where you can download the program, and below it is an article about the girl featured in the program. I STRONGLY suggest you watch it. I think it will give both you and your sister some much needed information and hope. I wish you the best! :)

My husband (he is 27) also has pulmonary hypertension. He was born with it (preemie by almost 3 months) 99% of the time, he is fine. When he gets really stressed or overworked he will feel tightening/pain in his chest. One other thing to caution you about, when he had apendicitis (sp?) he was having major chest pain and it took the doctors some time to figure out it was his appendix and not his heart. So, basically, what I have learned about it, usually he is fine, when he does have other major physical problems is when it acts up. His cardiologist did an echogardiogram and measured the amount of hypertension and recommended that if he starts having more problems or the tightening in the chest more frequently to have another test done to make sure the amount of hypertension isn't increasing. Another thing, when he keeps is weight at a healthy level, it really helps. Good luck, our experience with it has been good, nothing life changing, just something to be aware of. God bless!

Hi L.,

I just wanted to inform you and therefore your sister about a wonderful nutritional supplement that is out there. It is called VEMMA and it has numerous amazing benefits: it supports heart health, cholesterol levels and protects cellular function, creates abundant energy (who can't benefit from that alone), helps support your immune system and digestive system, natural analgesic and anti-inflammatory, enhances overall health and is a powerful antioxidant. I have been on it for 8 months now and have noticed great things and just feel "good". For example, I have suffered with insomnia for quite a while now and this allows me to fall asleep and stay asleep, I have loads more energy, gives me a boost on the soccer field and my allergies (which I have suffered with my entire life) have virtually disappeared and I no longer have to take prescription medication for them. VEMMA is chalk full of so much great stuff, I could go on and on, but I encourage you to check out my webiste and read more about it at www.myvemma.com/davidandcolleen Although I do not suffer from anything right now, I am taking a preventative approach to life. As my counterpart put it, "there aren't many things in life you get a second chance at and your health is not one of them", so take care of yourselves now. I will keep your sister in my prayers. Feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance. Take care-
C.

Make sure your sister has a team of doctors. I would recommend having her also set up an appointment with a pulmonologist if she has not already done so. If she lives in Arizona. Dr. Husband is one of the best out there. I worked for him for about six years as his medical transcriptionist. I would suggest staying off the internet until she has met with all of her doctors and has a strategy in place. The information on the websites are usually a worse case scenario and can cause more stress than it is worth. A pulmonologist is key to having the best care for this diagnosis.
