When my daughter was a baby I used sheer vail material to make a mosquito tent for her crib. That worked great. Also OFF has this little clip on fan thingy ( name escapes me at the momtent), I have a few, and they work great.
My son is four months and he is basically covered with mosquito bites from head to toe. I am so worrird because its so many of them. Does anyone know what I can use to treat them as well as to prevent them. I have tried the avon skin so soft oil however not only does it cause his ezema to flare up but its not working. I dont know what to do. I am so afraid of him contracting west nile from these mosquitoes. They are really bad here I mean all in my house. I have spent so much time killing as many as I can but to no avail. Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With a child that young your main line of defense should be preventing bites. Where is he getting bitten? In your house or outside? If it's in your house, how do they get in? Install screens in your windows or keep them closed! If you can't install screens, see if you can get some adjustable ones. Our last rental didn't have screens, so I picked some of at the hardware store.
If that is not an option get a mosquito net for his crib. They make special ones for cribs that attach safely.
Also make sure that you are not breeding them right in your backyard, empty all containers with standing water (they can breed in as little as half a cup of water) and treat your pool if you have one.
To keep him safe when you're out, get bug netting for your stroller, pack'n'play and dress him in lightweight but long sleeved clothing.
Mosquitoes are most active during dusk and dawn, try to keep your child inside or under netting during that time.
Also make sure it's mosquitoes and not other buds like fleas or bed bugs.
I really hate those little pests, you won't be able to avoid all bites, but you can minimize them by preventing the bugs from getting to him.
Good luck!
I recently addressed this same issue with my daughter's pediatrician. I was worried because my daughter had a number of bug bites all over her torso and legs, on parts of her body that are normally covered by clothes, and I really haven't seen a lot of bugs around the house. What he told me is that it is not uncommon for a person (child or adult) to get bitten by a bug just one time and then have a reaction to that bite that ends looking like a number of different bites. Basically it is your body's immunity response to that bite. Just treat it by putting some calamine lotion on it and letting it heal.
As for bug repellents, someone posted on here probably about a month ago that if you mix vanilla extract and water, place it in a spray bottle and spray it all over you, it's the best bug repellent ever. I haven't tried it yet but I believe that she was from Texas so may have been dealing with the same types of critters as in your neck of the woods.
I would definitely talk to your pediatrician. He may need a prescription to fight against all of the bites. Also, are you sure they are mosquito bites? My son used to break out in hives from head to toe that looked exactly like mosquito bites. Definitely call the pediatrician.

Why are they all in your house? You need to get this baby mosquito netting now. It works great. Call your baby dr. and ask what can you use to relieve your baby of the itchy feeling also what you can use for a safe repellent.
Melaleuca oil or the Melagel is fantastic for treating bug bites- even takes the burn out of fire ant bites.
Try Vanilla for keeping the mosquitos away- works WONDERS!! Just mix a bit with water or just dab it on straight from the bottle. No more bites... This from someone who is apparently very tasty to the bugs and ahs tried EVERYTHING! =o)
Try a little benidril cream on them to stop the itch. We got this stuff from the baby store that as a natural (no deet) that seems to work the best. You can try those off fans, clip them on his crib to keep them away?
Run and buy screens for the windows!!!! I believe you can also make them yourself with the right fabric (cheap) and that special tape that is adhesive on the back and "scratchy" on the other side (not sure what it is called) so that the fabric (that looks like a net) will stick to it. A pair of scissors et..voilà!
I hope this helps...
Mosquito's are attracted to sweat. If you can keep your son in a cooler place that will be helpful and don't bundle him too much. Also I would get and did get when my son was a baby mosquito netting for his crib. If the baby is co-sleeping with you, then get a net big enough for the bed. Skin so soft didn't work for my son. But pure baby oil did. I put it all over him after bath before bed and again in the morning. Use the gel version so it's not so messy. Is he irritable because of the bites? If not just try not to rub against his bites, if he is you can try calomine lotion, find out if a babe so young can have it on their skin. There is also a spray version of Benedryl that stops the itching but I would ask dr, or pharmasist if you can use it on your son. It is the worst and you feel helpless. If the bites are not super raised and puffy he at least does not have an allergic reaction to the bites and that will make him less itchy. Call your dr, and see what they suggest. I'm sure since you have lots of mosquitos there , they must have solution.
There is no way you should have any bugs in your house. You must prevent the bugs from coming in. If you keep your windows and doors closed and have air conditioning which I would think was a necessity in July in TX you should not have all of this in your house. Get someone to help you make your house completely sealed off so that your baby is not getting bit. This is dangerous to your child at this age.
If I saw your child I would call CPS because to me it is not caring for a helpless infant. Do what ever it takes to stop it.
Please check with your pediatrician before applying anything.
To treat the mosquito bites, try the benadryl for children itch cream. I have used this with my daughter since she was 6 months old.
Also, I used the Off Family Care pads. This is what her pediatrician recommended.
I am the person that gets ate up by mosquitos while everyone else is doing fine!!! I am a huge fan of Burt's Bees products. I have a little green tin called "Burt's Bees Res-Q Ointment. Its all natural but I would ask before putting it on a 4 month old. I put a little on my bites and it really sooths them. Dosent take the pain away entirely. I haven' tried the next tip but it might work. http://www.vinegartips.com/Scripts/pageViewSec.asp?id=9 again all natural. I also read rose mary bushes help by rubbing them on your skin. I wondered if they would help by being planted around too? I didnt want to rub the plant on my baby. But I can't keep a rosemary plant alive :/
Prevention you can put him in one of these for periods of time http://www.theninjacorporation.com/products/index.shtml?p...
I would call a pest controll. There are tons outside but really if they are in the house that bad somethings not right.
Get some bug zappers to put outside, or just inside the doors to your place. Also- go to your local home and garden place and ask about exterior lights that don't attract bugs. Cut the sugar and as much processed carbs as you can from his diet. Psoriasis has been linked to excessive of candida (yeast)in the blood, candida is fed and proliferates with enough sugar intake. (he smells sweet to the mosqiutos) And reducing sugar and processed carbs will help control his dermal plaque. As far as protecting his skin topically, I would get the kid friendly cutter wipes. Just swipe him down before he goes outside. In the meantime you can treat his existing bites with benadryl (for the swelling), and topically with calamine lotion (they have clear now).
Or get him these things: http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale/wholesale-pure-natura...
Best luck!
