Help Me 'In-shrink' My Dress!!! Pleeeeezzzzeeeee!!!

You're not screwed. :-) This is a pretty easy fix.

Put some warm (not hot) water in the sink. Add about 1/2 cup of hair conditioner or baby shampoo. Mix it in. Put your dress in to soak for 30 minutes. Wring it out and get as much of the liquid out as possible. Then gently stretch the fabric back to shape. Hang it up or lay it flat to dry. Don't shrink it again when you wash it. :-)

If it's wool, you might be able to soak it (no agitation and stretch it some.
If it's cotton, you're screwed.

What on earth is it made of? I have fixed a lot of shrunk clothes but what works for one fiber doesn't always work for another.

i've never heard of a successful unshrinking.
but then, i'm a doof about such matters.

just like christy said.. conditioner then gently stretch and lay out to dry. i have used this methid several times. onegoodthingbyjillee is a great site and has many useful ideas!
