I think bed bugs are flat black and red beetle looking bugs, is that the kind you found?

It is very hard to visibly see bed bugs, by the edge of the beds underneath you can see blood or dark stains. The bites are usually on the legs and torso. Could you have fleas? Do you have pets that spend a lot of times outside?
Bed bugs are very hard to get rid of, very hard. They can travel if you have been in a hotel or somewhere that had them and they tagged along back home. If you are really concerned I would talk to an exterminator.

You may have fleas. The bites you are describing are the same my son experienced when he was 4. The doctor said it was fleas. They are very small and hardto see. If you have any pets like a dog or cat, thay could be the culprit.

If the bites seem to be in a pattern, i.e. a line on your arm, then it could be spider bites.

Good luck.

You need to check the crevises and seams around the corners of your mattresses. Bed bugs like to hide where it is dark, so pull beds away from the walls, then check headboards, curtains, behind wall hangings, anywhere that it would be easy for them to feed during the night. They like blood and seek heat(warm bodies) to feed on while it is dark and you are sleeping. If you wake in the middle of the night, turn on the light and check the corners and seams of your mattresses then. They do leave black stains on the corners and seams, as well as blood stains on your sheets. We had these last summer, and unfortunately they got really bad before we figured out what they were. If you find that you have them, I would just call the exterminator and have them deal with the issue. That is probably the best way to be certain you get them all. It took a couple of months of treatment before we were bug free, and we my husband and I are still both constantly checking the furniture and beds. Good luck!

I would definitely talk to your doctor. It could be scabies which can be picked up from such places as playground sandboxes. My sister got it a few months ago (strangely, her baby was spared), but she and her husband both had to get medically treated to get rid of it. It really could be any number of things, so consulting with your doc would probably be best.
