Hello T.,

It sounds like he may have jock itch which is somewhat similar to a yeast infection for a girl and pretty much the same causes. They have powders for it at the store and if he's wearing tight underwear and getting hot, by playing outside and swimming a lot, then he needs to change out of his undies or swimsuit when he's done. Hope I didn't get too graphic but this may help. Good luck!

It could be jock itch. Also I learned that genitals is a common area on males to have psoriasis. I would go to your doctor.

Sounds like a fungus. Try the Lotrimin A/F cream for a couple of days, then if it doesn't get better, take him to the dr. so he can get something Rx strength.

Could be jock itch, I would try an antifungal cream such as lotrimin. You can get it over the counter at Walgreens, CVS or any other store. That would be my best guess and it couldn't hurt to try it.

I agree with everyone else maybe jock itch. I may be wrong but I don't think 13 is to young for puberty. Personally I started my cycle and the who puberty thing at 10. Has your husband had any suggestions being a male? I would probably also call my pedi.

That definitely sounds like jock itch to me. My husband says if your son has athletes foot, he can easily transfer it up there. Or he could have picked it up in a locker room. I would get the lotrimin cream, which is by the Tinactin powder and sprays for athletes foot. I don't know if it's okay or not, but putting the medicated powder on his scrotum might help keep it dry and treat it as well. With most of the anti-fungal treatments, it's supposed to work in about 2 weeks. If you try them and it's not getting better after that time, I'd go to the doctor. I wish you the best of luck! Hope it clears up quickly! And as an after thought, I don't think 13 is too young for puberty. I started growing breast when I was in second grade. I remember because I had a lump in my breast and I thought something was wrong. My mom took me to the doctor and he told her that it was just breast tissue developing. I needed a bra soon after. I was six or seven at the time (I can't remember if I'd had my birthday yet or not). I started my cycle in sixth grade.

sounds like he might have a yeast or fungal infection. You could try over the counter med for athlete's foot, but your best best would be to go to the dr and get a prescription strength anti-fungal.
