OK ladies (and gentlemen) what has worked for you...? I fly in 2 days and am on my 2nd day with a bad sinus/head cold and congested cough. I'm flying in for a wedding so I can't re-book~ Has anyone taken anything preflight that has worked?

What can I do next?

Go to the doctor. I learned my lesson the first time I flew with a head cold. It was miserable. Next time I went to the doctor about 2 days before the flight. Antibiotic plus a shot. I felt soooo much better on flight day.

I would go to a doctor and not mess with anything self-prescribed. You do not want the pressure changes with a bad head cold...it's not safe.

I hope you get better!

Start taking Sudafed NOW. Every few hours. You need to try and dry out your sinuses. (Obviously, since Sudafed dries you out and it's been hotter than Hades around here these past few days, drink LOTS of water, too.) Oh - and don't buy the over-the-counter Sudafed, get the stuff you have to ask the Pharmacist for. That's the only kind that actually works.

Other than that, maybe herbal tea, lots of rest... you could potentially start to feel a whole lot better within 48 hours. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon!

Get something from doc because if you are really sick when you fly, people will not be happy; not to mention pressure changes.

Pour some eucalyptus oil in the bottom of the shower and stand in the hot water as long as you can. Steam it out!!

Natural foods would be home made soup with Garlic and onions. But, really you should go to the doc. Mucinex will help thin the mucus out so you can clear it easier.

Good Luck.

Call your doctor and get a prescription to clear it out quickly. Whatever they prescribe will be better and faster than OTC stuff. We had to fly for a wedding when my son was 2. He had an ear infection about 4 days before- went to the doctor and he prescribed a "double strength" antibiotic. It was GONE in 24 hours.

Check your local Walmart for Sine-Off, my husband (who suffers bigtime from sinus infections) & I both swear by it. Best of luck & enjoy the wedding.

Sudafed from your pharmacist to dry out, musinex to help drain and Advil to reduce swelling - repeat often :)

J.:

Call your doctor and get an antibiotic going!!

Another thing to "dry yourself" out - using Sudafed....

I'm sorry you are sick!!! I hope your doctor is able to see you quickly and you are on the road to recovery and better BEFORE your flight!!!

Chew LOTS of gum on the plane during take off and landing!!!
