Have you thought of making one?? That's what I did for my son, but then again, making cakes is my hobby. =)
My source for making a smash cake for my daughter's 1st birthday has not returned my messages. The party is this Saturday...I need to find a place that will do a nice, not too expensive smash cake for the party. I went to Bel-Air...and they were definitely not the solution. Any ideas?

Safeway will make a FREE first year birthday cake for you, its a single layer 8 inch round, I believe they only need 24 hours to make it, but I would place your order today just to be safe! Good Luck and happy birthday 1st year!
Hi W.,
I know of two places you can try. Hope it helps!

I must be out of the loop...what is a SMASH cake?
Several grocery stores in the area will make you a serperate cake for the 1st birthday,if you order the regular cake with it....Is this what you mean?
I know Albertson's use to do it, the second child's cake was FREE....But, since we don't have Albertson's any more, I'm not sure...try Save Mart or Food for less....I can't remember what they changed thier name to???
Good Luck
How about one of those single serving brownie things that you can microwave? Once it's cool, your 11mo old won't know the difference between brownie and cake! ;)
Betty Crocker makes them and they're on the cake isle right by the cake mixes, but on the top shelf at my raley's.
Have fun!!!
I also did cupcakes for my kids' first birthdays... that way everyone got some and their "smash" wasn't a total loss and I was able to control the amount of sugar they got. ;)
Are you in the Sacramento area? If so, I just found a fabulous bakery called Cake and Candy Specialties... it's in the Greenback Square Shopping Center @ 8077 Greenback Lane, Citrus Heights... ###-###-####.
They made my husband this fab Red Sox cake for his birthday.

Go to Save Mart, they used to give a small baby sized cake that was decorated to the first birthday for free if you bought the cake from there. Don't try to call, it will only cause more frustration, they are no longer staffed to answer the phones like they used to be and only answer them when they can get to it.

Safeway gives you a free smash cake with a larger cake purchase and it is delicious. For the 1st b-day.
