I had the same problem with both my sons around the same age. I pumped and mixed for a few months and then transitioned to straight formula.
Hi. My son is eight month old. He is exclusively breastfed. He refused the breast at eight month so I have been pumping and feeding him. I want to stop and don't have as much milk as I used to. I tried to give him enfamil and similac and he refused them and spit up. I feed him solids but he is not a big fan. He loves breastmilk more then any other food. Please help. Maybe I can mix breastmilk with formula? It is extremely hard to pump all the time especially when you don't have a lot of milk. Sometime takes me an hour to get 4oz and he usually eats 6 oz. Any suggestions ? Thanks.

I would definitely recommend mixing breastmilk and formula. That is what we did when my daughter started drinking more than I could pump. Perhaps it is also the type of formula you are using. My daughter got really gassy with enfamil and similac but loves Good Start. I have a friend who's baby would only drink soy based formulas.
Mix formula with the breastmilk try enfamil gentlease
yes you can mix them. i had to do the same with my son at 6 months because i started drying up. and just slowly but surely start weening the breast milk out. good luck
yes you can totally mix breast milk with formula. That is one of the best ways to transition a baby. Also when I was trying to get my daughter to switch from breast milk to cows milk I would mix the cows milk with the vanilla pediasure. It made it much sweeter and she loved it. Then I would gradually add less and less pediasure until it was all cows milk. But check with your doc first......I don't know if an 8 month old can have pediasure? It's probably fine but my daughter was a year so she was a little older.
Try pumping for less time (like 10 minutes at a time) more frequently (maybe every 3 hrs?). It will help your supply much more than sitting at a pump for an hour ever will.
Have you tried nursing him in a dark and quiet room wherevhe can't be distracted? Or try offering him the breast before solids so he is hungrier. My son in nine mints an went through the same thing. It is a bit better now. We are in less of a nursing schedule though as I offer it to him more and e tends to "snack" more.
