Having Another One?

So in the last 10 months I have had 3 miscarriages. We have had genetic testing done on both of us, both of us were normal. We have a son who is 6 and had no problems getting pregnant with him. We are currently debating if we should try again. It has been a long road dealing with the 3 miscarriages and are not sure if we want to try again. I am wondering if there is any treatment out there that you moms have tried after a miscarriage that worked. Also wondering if there is some unconventional methods out there that worked fo you and if there is something that my doctor have have missed testing me or both of us for that I should ask him about. The lat miscarriage happened just last month so I am still waiting for my first cycle after the miscarriage. I have an appt scheduled with the doctor, who is ain infertility/ reproductive/ high risk pregnancy doctor on the 13th of october to talk to him. I have been taking Prenatal vitamins since the first miscarriage in January. In may after that miscarriage we added a baby aspirin every day and with the last miscarriage when I found out I was pregnant I started progesterone suppositories the day I found out I was pregnant. I know that I have had my hormone levels tested prior to pregnancy and also after having a positive test.

Thanks mom in advance for all your help!!!

My sister had many miscarriages and it was found she had progesterone and adrenal gland problems. She had to take pills for progesterone her entire pregnancies.

It wouldn't hurt to have an appointment with a fertility specialist or high-risk pregnancy specialist just to go over your history and current health to make sure you have covered anything that your regular doctor might have missed.

I don't know your age but you need to let your body and mind heal properly. I would wait a year. Also if you are not thinking about it maybe it will just happen. I know a couple who tried to get pregnant and could not and then did in vitro and got a multiple birth. And then years later got pregnant because they were not even thinking about it. Also are you physically in good shape? Eat right and get good exercise if you are not already doing that. A lot of women deal with anxiety when trying to get pregnant. Just relax. Try yoga.

I'm so sorry. Last year we lost two. it was the hardest thing in the world. I fought testing, but did find out I have a clotting issue. i was told the first course of action was Rx folic acid and baby aspirin, but that it was a 50/50 shot. if it didn't work it would mean I would need injections of blood thinners.

Have them check for the MTHFR gene mutation if they haven't already.

*good news we are expecting a little boy in december, the folic acid and aspirin (for the first 14 weeks) worked.

I am so very sorry.
My friend recently went through multiple miscarriages and she is in the same investigation process. Another friend miscarried twice in a row and had a beautiful baby after that. I've offered to be a traditional surrogate (use her/her husband's embryo) for that friend who has miscarried three times, if she would like. I hope things work out for you; sorry I'm not more help.

my fiend also had some issues where she had to take medication through the before and during the preg to keep the baby in . I am not sure of what it was.... it was a low level of something ............. I know I am not helping...but some blood tests can help you figure out the right meds for what you need to balance out something . I will see her end of the week.........I can ask her and reply for a better answer :0)

If they didn't check previously, you want to be sure they check the blood for clotting disorders especialy for the antiphospholipid antibody. It can cause recurrent miscarriage and many times no other symptoms. (I used to work for a rheumatologist...it's not a common test). The answer could be an anticoagulant during the pregnancy, or even a simple aspirin!
So sorry about your recurrent losses. I can only imagine how hard it is.
Hugs.

I had 2 early miscarraiges before my OB did testing. Found that I have 2 clotting disorders - MTHFR & Factor V Lieden Mutation. I was placed on Baby Aspirin and once I got pregnant again was told I'd need Lovenox (blood thinner injections). I am now 16wks pregnant with our 2nd child and feel like a walking pharmacy & pin cushion, but it's all good! I have epilepsy also so I have to take my seizure meds, prenatal vitamin, extra folic acid (started initially due to the seiizure meds, but help with the other stuff too I think), baby aspirin, and lovneox shots everyday, but it's all worth it.
I would see the RE first and see if there is anymore testing they want to do before you try again. I know how tough miscarraiges can be and after the second one I just prayed (out loud) to God that if I was not meant to have anymore kids, then stop letting me get pregnant! I was angry. But we found the cause and if all cont to go well will have a new baby in March. I feel for you and wish you the best of luck!

There are two books that address the often overlooked/not thought of as a possibility problem of what you eat! Nina Planck's _Real Food for Mother and Baby_ and Hilary Jacobson's _Mother Food_ are both eye-opening. Especially the first book. _Real Food_ shows how eating the right foods (as all cultures used to) can really impact fertility.
This is a far less expensive route to try than some of the medical ones out there.
Let me know if you have more questions!

I had 3 miscarriages last year (July, September and December). I have 3 children already and never had any issues with them. So, the first two had no treatment. The 3rd, we had tried the baby asa and extra (4x) folic acid. Still no luck (although, I had twins and possibly triplets that time). Then, we tried again with the Progesterone suppositories (even though my progesterone levels were okay) 200mg twice a day for 14 weeks........now, I am 8 months pregnant with that one. I would try the progesterone again and see if that helps this time. Make sure the dosage is strong enough. Some research I have done on the web says that sometimes there is better luck with Progesterone started at ovulation.......take that piece with a grain of salt. That info came off the web, not necessarily a health care provider.

Good luck. Sometimes it takes a while to be successful. My neighbor just delivered her baby last week and has had nothing but miscarriages for 12 years and hasn't even tried for several years.
