Having a Hard Time Finding a Good Preschool. (E.Cobb 30062)

I'll be honest. I want to send my boys to the BEST preschool there is but we probably couldn't afford it. My hubby is a school teacher (Dickerson M.S.) supporting a disabled father, me-his wife, and our two boys (2 & 3yrs.). My 3 yr. old has been begging to go to school and I would love to make it happen for him. My concern is that everyone that I meet is telling me how dissappointed they are in their childrens' Preschool and most of them are paying well over $150 a month for only a few hrs./day and a couple days/week. Can anyone out there give me a little insite??? Thank you!

What can I do next?

I invite you to try mine. I am a teacher (starting my 20th year) at Roswell Presbyterian Church, on the Square in Roswell. We have many students from your zip code as we are so close to the county line on Marietta Hwy. Tours may be scheduled through the office at ###-###-####.
We are a half day school, offering lunch several days depending on your age group. We also offer a Young 5's class for children with birthdays through November. I teach Older 2's and Mixed 3's.
I hope that you will come see us. We offer carpool and a very loving and safe environment.
Regards,
Cathy

Well, I haven't read what other have wrote to you but I have an 8 yr old and have went through years of prek... I just want to say I have found that many churches have if not good but butter then non churches Prek programs. In my experience they all had programs that they followed and they were at a way better monthly fee then private schools. I even have my youngest who is for and not 5 just yet (in a few weeks)going to a church prek program I also sub for them and it helps in my fee (take the fee down a bit) when I do. I am not a member of the church they don't pressure me to go there and in my experience I found they (the teachers)seems kinder and easier to work with parents, since they too want the child to be a learning and making improvements in many areas. It's reflection on them to be the best teacher they can be and you'd be shocked to know that many times those teachers are real teachers in early education or more...you wonder why are they there?? because many times the schedule works for them and their family or because it's where they want to be. Lots of folks have the idea that there's some or only moms teaching at the churches...not so..as I found out myself. My son's teacher last year has enough education teach more then early ed but she enjoys children at that age best...sadly she had to leave this year to take care of her ill father...well I just wanted to share with you my experience and tell you that we all want the best education for our kids and we can find it many times in some unlikely places. My best wishes to you I also was fro FL WPB area 6 yrs ago....Ga has been very good to us I almost don't even miss Fl anymore and we saw snow this past winter....Hope you can look into some churches.

look into church preschool programs. You'll probably be pretty happy with what you find.

K., Check the churches in your area. Many have preschools and they are very affordable. You already have a good recommendation on St. Catherine's. Here's their web page. It has tuition pricing, etc.

My children both go to St. Catherine's Preschool on Holt Road. It is a wonderful school. I wouldn't send my kids anywhere else.

Personally- I would go and tour your top three choices, then make a decision based on YOUR needs and expectations- NO you will not find a preschool that you will be 100% happy with- life isn't that way- but you have to let the little things go- as long as you feel thier basic needs are takencare of and they are happy there and well cared for- I think at that age- that is the most important thing. I've been to several preschools (from moving to different cities and not being happy, etc..) and I'll tellyou what I mentioned above is the most importnat thing- but if you feel your child is unhappy or not being listened to or cared for- THAT is when it's important to talk to the director and search for a new preschool.
Good Luck to you- I think it's a great thing we have here - so many options to send our kids to "school" for such a small price- many states do not have these church run preschools yet...
Good luck to you
Nikki
